Rivera always clashed with Lovie Smith. Lovie wanted to stick with more base cover 2, Rivera wanted to blitz more and put more pressure on the other teams. Smith seemed to use Rivera as a partial fall boy when the D wasn't as good.

Rivera sort of reminds me of Jack Del Rio a little bit, he didn't have as much success in the NFL but he also didn't coach the stacked ravens. I think you are maybe looking at a Jack Del Rio type coach which isn't a bad thing.

Del Rio was our DC when we had one of the best defenses in the league in '02. So I can handle that. Next year he went to Jax.

I doubt Carolina will resign Deangelo considering the stable of running backs the already have.
