Plot of The Departed is much better than that of The Town.

Both are overrated overall, particularly The Town (predictable, shallow, pretentious, unmoving).

The Departed no contest. Scorseses directing is awesome, the music, the fukin cast, DiCaprio, Damon, Nicholson, Sheen!!! the plot & storyline are great and even real good cinematography. A lot of twists turns & surprises.

The town is worth watching and thats about it, in spite of Ben Affleck

I just dont see all the love for 'the town'. Classic bank robbing movie with a shitty ending and a little romance sprinkled in.

When you fuks' pussies stop bleeding for the month go rent the departed & watch it again, your nuts will grow back & you'll see what I mean

I thought both movies were very unoriginal. The town tho was especially boring and you could tell affleck directed it.

There was no tension in The Town; I really didn't care what happened. The Departed wasn't so amazing, but better and more suspensful.

An example.

When the Hurtlocker guy got killed in The Town, I was yawning, didn't care. There also wasn't any build up of suspense or a sudden action that surprised you and got you into the film. In The Departed, when DiCaprio was suddenly shot in the head, you were like "Oh shit!". You were firstly more attached to the character; and secondly, you were taken totally by surprise.

Also, the scene with Jack questioning DiCaprio so nonchalantly, there was considerable tension, and Jack's demeanor contributed to it. A comparable scene in The Town could be in the Flower Shop when Afleck wanted it out. The tension was nowhere near the aforementioned scene in The Departed.

Even though The Departed was from a Asian film, I still enjoyed the Departed more then the Town.

Departed was better.

But since Baffleck is an asshole, expectations were low and The Town soared over them.
