A greyhound of ours will be making a trip to Michigan State to have his achilles repaired...he tore it running in the yard. Expected expenses to be in the $1000-2500 range. Any dog lovers out there? We won't put him down. My avatar is of our boy Dino, a champion in so many ways that passed away in June...almost 13...what a great dude. SBR talkers thoughts welcome....peace, dino

#6Have an italian greyhound myself, glad you're getting him fixed and wish you the best. I'm afraid that someday mine will have a similar injury, they run so fast yet don't have very big legs.Comment -

#12Dino (my avater) was the first greyhound we adopted/rescued...a perfect dude...a leader...most of our future standards will be based on him. he passed june 2010. a few yrs ago we adopted a younger grey, Ivan ...he turned out to be Dino's follower. after Dino's passing we needed a runner to accomodate my wife's jogging. this fall we welcomed in Usher, a young 4 yr old with great leadership potential. recently, he tore his achilles, just took him up to Mich St U for $3k surgery. you either do or you don't..make a decision and to it like hell, draw your line in the sand....there is alot of reason why we made the decision to save him. i could write a book on this stuff.Comment -

#13I've spent about 4 grand total on mine over the last 5 months. He was diagnosed with Cushing's Disease. The different tests and his $140 dollar a month meds are kicking my ass but he's my best bud.Comment -
