    MLBPA To Investigate....
why Barry Bonds is not receiving any contract offers from major league teams

umm...this makes baseball look bad...when the top home run king of ALL TIME cant even get on a team for the league minimum

Barry said "I have a cell...a blackberry...they work...if my phone rings is does..if it dosent it dosent...Im not going to retire...I'll come back in July if I have to"

so....great people here at the SBR....my question is....any reason why a MLB team wouldnt want the home run king of ALL TIME on their squad?????

Bulked-up home run hitters no longer in fashion for the fans or the media and owners fear a PR backlash for signing Bonds, Clemens right now. Might not be right, might not be fair to cheer a guy one day and then jeer him the next even though he's not doing anything differently than the day before when he was applauded. But that's the way it is.

He could probably still be one of the most productive hitters in the sport when he plays, but there's too high a chance that you'd wind up paying him a lot of money to sit around and rehab injuries.

Teams feel confident about their minor league prospects right now. If we get to May and teams like Toronto, Baltimore, and Tampa Bay are struggling for runs - I say Bonds gets "the call" despite all the media crap that he brings with him.

Absolutely zero chance he ends up in Toronto. Aside from the fact Frank Thomas is here and Barry Bonds will be nothing more than a DH in the AL, their is zero chance the Toronto media and fans would accept him here. The public backlash would be too severe.
