    Tiger who?
What pisses me off is when stupid sports writers r comparing Tiger Woods to LeBron,MJ,Tom Brady,Joe Montana,Babe Ruth etc. Those guys r athletes who achived greatnes compiting against other athletes on a highist possible level using their musscles and brains.
Fukking Woods is compiting against 40,50,60 year old man.
No athleticism involved what so ever.
    Its like playing chess.
And yet ,how many times was he ellected as "athlete of the year"
ITS A FUKKIN JOKE.WAKE UP PEOPLE!!!!!!!!!!!!

Get a grip...sports is about much more than just how much you can bench and how fast you are, and these guy have to be in shape or they simply dont win.....Im not a huge golf fan and I do agree with your take to some point that it is not as athletic as football etc....but the mental demands in this sport are far more demanding than any other and if you are having a bad day you dont have any team members to pick you up...I put him on the same or better level than MJ, Babe, Lance Armstrong and all the others that you mention with no question...It is an athletic competition and he may get athlete of the year this year, in fact I will probably find a bet for this and bet the bank that he gets it this year if he keeps winning.

You mention he isn't a great athelete, but what do you think gives him such an advantage. Oh wow...he is a great athelete, your post is rediculus. He was on the cover of either Muscle and Fitness or Mens Health last year sometime and I bet you would be shocked at how strong this guy really is...and he is a golfer.

Guys Im not sayin' that he is not good in what he is doing. He is great. However, he is not throwing footbal with having 260 pounds guy trying to knock him down, he is not tryin' to hit a curve ball for a home run and he is not dunking a ball over guys that are over 6 feet. He is not challenged in that way what so ever.
Now,the reason that he is athlete of the year is because stupid sports writers that wote for him are 50,60 and 70 years old and the only thing they can play is - golf. They never threw a football or hit a curve ball or dunked a ball, but they sure did hit a golf ball and in their stupid brains that is very hard thing to do. And because Tiger is so good in it, well let's give him all the fukking awords out there.
              I say it is RIDICULOUS.
Im askin' you as a sports fans, who is better athlete-Woods or those guys that I mentioned in my thread?

Yes I think in their given sports Tiger is the best.....To play four days of golf, swing the clubs, warm up, walk the course etc you have to be in shape, why do you think that Mickleson is having probs? Its not because he is skinny. Now if you are asking how would tiger do if it were full contact, or could he beat these guys in a 40 yrd dash you would be right, but that is not a fair comparison because if you put these guys out there playing golf they would be way overmatched as well, in their respective sports I would rank Tiger higher than some of the all time greats in other sports......

Its like apples and oranges, I mean you cant say that lance armstrong is not an athlete because he never had a 260LB linbacker coming at him, and he did not have to hit a curve ball, but he will rank as one of the best athletes of all time.

Just because you dont understand the physical aspects of golf since you think of it as a place where you go to pound a few beers and hit the ball around, does not mean that they are not athletes....

I would rank Tiger above most of the guys you listed in your thread and Im not really a golf fan...

I hear you,but I got question for you. Imagine there is a darts player out there and he is dominant in darts as much as Tiger is in golf.Would he be an athlete of the year? And yes,to me golf and darts are both apples. You can be 18 or 60,you can be fat or tin,you can be toll or small, you can have one leg instead of two, makes no difference, you still compete against other people without having anybody interfering with you and trying to stop you.
And if you are 60 and you are the best like he is,than according to that, you are athlete of the year.
Now , my friend, I really think that is a joke!!!!

Yup,golf is more of a mental skill game and not a sport but the more fit and athletic you are,the more success you will have as is the case with Woods. There are too many variables to equate golf to other team sports.

You take fat out of shape golfers like John Daly and Walrus Stadler and when they were in their prime they could muscle out a win here and there but in the long run they faded in tournaments.I bet Daly at 500-1 in a tournament about a year ago and he was leading early in the 2nd round and I didn't get my hopes up because I knew he was going to run out of gas.

Woods is a perfectionist beyond belief and leaves nothing to chance. You would think that having all the money in the world and a million distractions in his life ,golf would take a back seat. The guy in his spare time researches the contoures of greens he will be playing on 6 months down the road.A lot of the golfers on tour that like having fun, can't compete with a perfectionist fiend like Woods and it irks them.Who knows, maybe something in Woods personality may go off track and he might turn into an OJ?hehe! If you know about Persian rugs, you know that the maker makes them perfect but leaves one undetectable knit wrong on purpose because they believe nothing should be flawless.Maybe God will play a trick on Woods where he has one flaw that will come out? He seems pretty level headed all around though so I doubt he will make the front page of the Enquirer. You can see the guy is image conscious where he knows he's building a mystique and legend and doesn't want that blemished.
