I have always had a soft side for the Pirates.
I think the solution to alot of their problems is to bring back the stovepipe caps with the yellow stripes.

I liked the Pirates back when in the days of Bob Walk, Bobby Bonilla and John Smiley. Some good teams in the early 90's who got some bad breaks.
Damn you Sid Bream.
I'm a Phillies and Jays fan but there are teams that I cheer for like the Pirates, Brewers, Cubs and Twins cause I like the underdogs.

Yeah the last ray of hope I remember having was Andy Van Slyke having a chance to send them to NLCS in early 90's. A strikeout and downhill from there...

I was born in Pittsburgh - I had little choice. I think they inject you at birth there
anyway, I believe I like your signature line - would you get me a beer?

Don't think you can lump the Cubs in there with teams like the Pirates, Devil Rays, Royals, et al. And we'll see now what happens in Pittsburgh with McClatchy no longer making the decisions at the very top plus a new GM in place.

One of my favorite pitchers growing up was Doug Drabek. I remember watching that guy lose several no hitters in the 9th. Atleast 2 in one season.

The Pirates' problems aren't money. Their problems over the past fifteen years have been more related to thinking $6 million for Jeromy Burnitz and other similar signings are good ideas and a complete inability to identify and evaluate amateur talent, which takes comparatively much less money to do successfully.
