Could someone explain to me what an exchange happens to mean? Sometimes I see the term associated with OffShore Books.

Welcome to SBR man. An exchange is where there is no middleman (Like the bookie). Person 2 Person gambling. The way they make money though, as a corporation, is by charging a commision. The advantage of it, by far, is lower vig. The disadvantage is liquidity in smaller events/sports.
