I like buying points also. I don't like the cold calls I get from some of them and that is why I stick with my books that I like.

Buy points or buy a half point? I can only think of one situation, other than what RP stated, where it might pay to buy one half point for 10 cents, and that would be involving the '7' in the NFL, maybe. Other than that, I'd need to be educated. Hoops, never, IMO. But then again, you're sharpcat, so maybe you're sharper than thou.

I am not suggesting that anybody blindly buy points as this would surely be a costly mistake but there are many opportunities out there where buying a half point, a full point, 2 points, 6 points etc. can increase the value of your wager.

Many opportunities other than the ones that everybody knows about, I think/hope most guys have learned their lesson about giving +EV plays away for free on a public chat forum and I have no intentions to do so.

Point is buying points is usually going to be a bad play but to say that you should never buy points is bad advice.
