What's the big deal with Singletary?

The last 2 years commentators always say Singletary and his smash mouth defensive team and that he will make the team play hard. Don't all coaches make their teams play hard??

I don't really understand why there is so much a big deal about this guy? He seems to be just a below average coach but he's definitely not top 5 worst coaches in the NFL. His record is 18-22 and that isn't that bad. yes they had expectations to win the division but most teams are a lot worst than the 49ers. Also, what is the big deal about him getting fired? Is it true that this is all because of his race?

It really isn't a HUGE deal. It's just that a lot more was expected out of him. His record is 18-22 overall, but lets not forget what everyone thought about the 49ers before the season started. They have a lot of players/talent in the organization, and they failed to deliver. In fact, the season was basically a complete and total failure considering the expectations. I would put him in bottom 10 if not bottom 5 of worst coaches in the league this year...and this is coming from a HUGE Chicago Bears fan.
