The average person would not even know who was playing in NCAA title game, lets top the bullshit.

I'd take weeks of ncaa games over the superbowl anyday. Superbowl I'm always watching teams I don't like.

Apples and Oranges.
The superbowl is a one day event.
The NCAA tournament takes about a month.
For me nothing tops the first weekend of the tourney. I anticipate that for 50+ weeks a year.

Nascar weekly is even bigger
Tiger way bigger than most events when he is leading on Sunday, today I rather watch Tiger than baskets.

Nothing beats the mayhem and excitement of March Madness. Where else can you see upsets like George Mason reaching the final four?
I enjoy watching the games from the kitchen while I am making dinner and washing dishes.

That's ok. I also enjoy indie music and movies over largely hyped productions. It's all a personal preference.

Using your methods for what determines a great event, the soccer WC is the greatest by far.

The NBA playoffs are the best postseason event.

SB is a bore, usually, tho this year was an exception.
NCAA tournament beats the bowl games, everyone is really tryng, oh yeah one shining moment.
NASCAR is only for bible belt hayseeds. Golf is for the aged; its about as much as sport as is billiards.
More money bet on Dance than any other event, including SB.
Sure, it's around 63 gaems, and SB is one. But the Dance sustains interest over it's full three weeks, and opening week it best of all.
Unline the NBA, when it gets interiesting only in semi-finals.

As far as 1 day events go I would usually pick the Super Bowl.
For playoff tournaments nothing beats March Madness - even though I don't think sub .500 teams should be in the tourney.
For championship tournaments I think it depends on the year as to whether or not it's the NBA or MLB. When Jordan was in the league it was def the NBA but now I would say MLB.
or if you are a doop gazer you could also say women's tennis
