It was done to try and entice pagans to convert.

Christmas is basically Saturnalia with some Christian stuff thrown in.

Most of the Christmas customs originated with pagans. Mistletoe, wreaths, trees, etc.

In an attempt to Christianize a pagan holiday, they threw in some stuff about baby Jesus, but if someone wanted to celebrate "Jesus's birthday", they certainly shouldn't be doing it on December 25.


Regardless, I'm not sure what that has to do with this thread. Christmas is a major American holiday, and I wouldn't mind the board being locked down if only to save jj from himself. It's jj's biggest holiday and he can't help himself.
