    Attention Engineers: NEED HELP
How far down to you have to go to get under a building foundation??
Basically how many feet and then also what temps do you need to get to too melt steel?

Finally if underground how long can you stay below the surface and do you need breathing equipment?

    Thanks

If the tunnel is long you will need something to pump air in there.

Depends on what type of steel we are talking and how thick?

A good quality hand held Plasma cutter can get you through 2" thick steel.

I think the steel in 6 inches thick

Does a blow torch do this??

It actually is a camera job but I have to do some demolition work first

Steel melts around 2500 degrees fahrenheit but it depends on the type of steel and it's properties. Some steels are made stronger than others.

A Oxygen Acetylene torch will get up to around 6000+ degrees, that should melt your steel.

How far do you have to get under the basement? Can you be right under the foundation slap? that would be better as it would provide shoring aslong as you did not tunnel to wide, the foundation would bridge its self.
