Well, this is the last time I looked at it and coincidentally it's from the head honcho himself.

Labouchere System This system is also called the 'Cancellation' system. There are many variations. In its simplest form, A player writes down a series or a set of numbers; say, 1 2 3 4 5 6. The series can be short or long and not necessarily sequential such as 1 1 1 3 3 5 7. The choice of a particular series depends on the type of game you want to apply it to and the odds of the bet. Each number represents the amount in units or chips to bet. You bet the first and last of these numbers. In this example 1 and 6, which totals 7 units. If you win, you cross out the two numbers and bet the next two 'ends' (the outside numbers). In this instance 2 and 5. If you win again you bet on the next two remaining numbers 3 and 4, and if you win that too, you would have made a 'coup' or completed one game. Then you start all over again. If you lose, then you add that one number to the end of the series. Say you lost your first bet of 7 units (1+ 6). Then you add number 7 to the end of the series to look like this: 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 and your next bet would be 8 units (1+ 7). If you won the first bet but lost the second 2 and 5, then the series of numbers would look like this: 2 3 4 5 7. If you work it out, you will see that when the series is completed or when you make a 'coup', there is always a profit. The negative side of this system is that you could end up betting large sums of money even if your initial bet is small.

The last line is exactly why I wouldn't use it nor would I want anyone who follows my plays to use it although I obviously have no control over that.

And there you have it JW. Playing any chase system will with all probability lead to a person betting a big wad of cash in order to stay true to that system. Well, what if my super dooper +EV play with a 78% edge craps out? Because they do. Then what? I don't have any money trees in my backyard so I'm going to continue to protect my money while maximising my profit as best as I can.

What does everyone define a professional sports bettor as anyhow? Surely someone that makes enough money to live comfortably, purely off of their own sports investing picks and system and nothing else should be considered a pro imo.

If there was no table max and you had a large sum of money compared to your bet unit you could win. The only problem is most people don't have significant sums of money lying around or they will hit the table max and the system will get ruined. That shit is like a ticking time bomb. I've used it before and won in a real life casino but I'm not likely ever going to do it again cause they will take it all back the 1 time that i hit a 7 or 8 losing streak and be over the table max.

Labouchere was designed for roulette, where percentages of likelihood
are well-defined.

Kelly Criterion is more applicable to sports wagering, because it directly connects
likelihood to wager amount. Although I'm not a strict adherent, there is no doubt
that the Kelly Method is in my subconscious when deciding on how to arrange
sporting bets. I believe most of us are apt to wager more on a higher likelihood
winner.

That being said, likelihood is often a mystery in sports.

Odds are there to f with your head !! They influence your perception
of how the game will unfold.. cap first, check odds later !
