Anyone choose one bar over another because of the bartender?

No doubt. Another important consideration is location. I love a place I could stumble home from without operating a car.

I hate hate hate going to a bar where the bartenders are rude. I won't ever go back to a bar that gives me this impression. A tell tale sign of a horribly run establishment.

I agree, zam! We're not just paying for drinks and food - when I go out, it's about the service really. I work with customers all week myself so when it's my time to be one, I don't want to be treated like crap.

If I go to a new bar and the bartender spends to much time BS'ing with the locals as I wait for my next drink then I usually avoid that bar in the future.

That's happened to me a few times, Garland! And I couldn't agree more. It's lame when you sit there feeling not as well treated as the regulars. I've given up on a few places even in my own town due to that.

It's a mix, Profane. Quality of food is a big part of the picture, but for me the service and overall experience has to be there also. Plenty of places I've gone to with great food who feel like they don't need my business the next time - so I just find another place with great food.

Two kinds of bartenders I like

1) This one bar had one of the hottest bartenders I've ever seen. She was SUCH a bitch to everybody, but I went right to her and gave her a 20 dollar tip before I even ordered a drink and introduced myself. The girl always treated me good and I think it helped me with other girls as they'd see me BS-ing with the hot one.

2) The guys that hook you up. They serve you first, they don't make you pay. Yeah they make you pay some money, but when you get 100 bucks in drinks and get a 20 dollar tab???

Yeah you know when it works out... At an open bar event where people are tipping 0 or 1 dollar per drink. You go up and tip somebody 20 bucks and give them a nice smile and catch their name. I promise you'll get your drinks before the cheap asses waiting in line.
