    Zach Greinke to the Brewers
    Published Dec. 18, 2010 at 11:15 p.m.
Zack Greinke will pitch for the Brewers next season, pending a physical.

The Brewers have reached a deal with Kansas City for right-hander Zack Greinke Saturday, agreeing to send four players for the former Cy Young Award winner.
According to a source with knowledge of the situation, the Brewers would send the Royals outfielder Lorenzo Cain, shortstop Alcides Escobar and prospect pitchers Jake Odorizzi and Jeremy Jeffress for Greinke, who went 10-14 with a 4.17 ERA last season with Kansas City.
The Brewers are expected to receive another "major league" player in the deal, according to the source.

      I'm thinking he requested a non-major market.

Good on the Brewers, provided they get him to sign a contract extension.

Anyone familiar with the players going to KC?

                      Source: Grienke to BrewCrew

The Milwaukee Brewers are going all in for 2011, acquiring former Cy Young winner Zack Greinke in a trade with the Kansas City Royals.

                      Didn't see that coming.

                          yup i am from milwaukee...

jeffress is not part of the deal. he is a good rp but got in touble for weed. not sure who they are sending now tho

cain is a solid cf. good defense and speed. .300 hitter, he is probly the main piece to the trade

escobar was suppose to be really good, below average hitter with not much for power, speed and good defender but alot of errors

odorizzi is a minor league pitcher in A league ball. 3-4 era, nothing too special as of yet anyway.

greinke waived his no trade clause, said no to wahington and yes to milwaukee. has 2 yrs left on contract,

                          GO BREWERS!!!

sounds like a lot of bigger market teams might of been wary because of this:

                                  from espn:
Information from ESPN The Magazine's Buster Olney and ESPN.com's Jerry Crasnick was used in this report.
"missed nearly all of 2006 because of an anxiety disorder, and that was partly shaping the possible market value for him. The Yankees, for example, were likely to pass on any run at Greinke given the questions about how he would adapt to the high pressure of New York."

Brewers picked up two very good pitchers this offseason. Gave up quite a bit for Greinke though. Probably turn into a great deal for the Royals.

Seems like a great move for both clubs. Milwaukee gets a top-flight pitcher, Kansas City gets some great young talent.

I just watched the ESPN short video on the trade and the analyst was touting the brewers as "a major factor now in the NL central." Please, with all due respect to the Brewers, the Reds and Cardinals still have better rotations and better overall teams than the Brewers. This was a nice addition to the Brewers indeed, but it isn't going to win them the division by itself. Now if they would have kept C.C. a couple of years ago then we would be talking but they didn't. The Brewers will finish 3rd in that division this season. Getting Greinke is just going to make them "competitive" not "serious contenders" for the division, the Cards and Reds are the top teams in that division. The Cubs and Brewers are a step below those 2 and in rebuild mode and the Stros and Pitts are a notch below them yet trying to rebuild.

Likely as the AL East winner or the AL Wild Card. They finished 1 game behind the Rays for the AL East last season and the Rays have lost a couple of pieces this offseason so it shouldn't be expected for them to win as many games in 2011. The Yanks record as the Wild Card last season was better than any other division winner in the AL so i don't see the AL WC not coming out of the East this season again. Boston and NYY should both be in the playoffs again this coming year, the only question is which one is the division winner and which one is the WC winner. The Yankess didn't lose anyone major and they won 95 games in 2010. Only the Phils and Rays won more games.
