He was better when he was on steroids in 2008. Funny how he hasn't played up to that year's level since.

From what i remember, if there was a traditional type 4 to guard, Lewis would guard him before Hedo would.

Lineup wise it looks good, J Rich is a monster when on, Bass has improved a lot. No backup for Howard though like demens said, this way guys will just abuse him.

There were rumors that the Magic were going to try and get a back for Howard out of the Arenas deal. I don't know if that's been forgotten though.

Well, injuries were a big factor here.

I guess Bass can hold that spot if he has to. He does have the strength for it. And it wont be for that many minutes anyway. Maybe Orlando is more concerned with matching up with the Heat then anything else, cause Boston and LA will dominate them. Like i said before, its not that difficult to put Howard in foul trouble and he is also a liability at the end of games due to FTs.

Shocked if they dont get the Wiz to pony up at least a throw in Center in this deal. I mean the Wiz are robbing them blind for 40 mil here. The least they could do is throw in like that french rookie, or that african rookie from Rutgers, Wiz had like 7 guys that can play center, Hilton Armstrong, someone shit. Seriously Otis, wtf?

from seeing arenas this yr guy looks washed up. the injuries have taken a toll on him. speed is gone. maybe a change of venue would re-energize him but nowhere near the player he was when he was averaging 26+ a game

Atleast they get rid of Lewis, but I see no point what so ever to get Arenas. Suns is the winner in this deal imo.

Arenas should be the role player for the Wizards, the reason they are losing is because they not putting him in the game a lot. Did the Wizards forget he can score 30 points a night.

He can't. This is not 2008.

I love Gilbert and his antics now let's see how they affect a contender.

Based on 82games.com figures, I would make the educated guess that Phoenix is the big winner in that tri-trade.

Edit: didn't know about the contract situation, so maybe Washington made out the best; we'll see.

                                  I hate everything about this.

And it was the right move.

Gil wasn't going to revert to his old self here, it just wasn't going to happen...with that being said I have a feeling in the pit of my stomach he's going to be incredibly productive for Orlando. At the same time, the Wiz managed to move a guy most (I recall discussing Orlando as the only possible location with some) regarded as an immovable piece not too long ago....but for someone who:

(+) has no major injury history (at least 71 games every year sans rookie year, he played in 20)
(-)with a nearly identical awful contract
(+)Character in comparison, though Rashard is no saint.
(-)Rashard has no good reason his production has dipped far south of what it once was. Gilbert can point to multiple injuries and breaks between regular season starting minutes, and his suspension (for better or worse).
(+) I believe the Wizards are really committing to Nick Young through this move...I've never been able to shake a feeling he would break out
(+)This is Walls team for sure.
(-)In Andray Blatche we have a tall lean PF who likes to shoot the ball from farther than he should, but this year at 17 and 9 he is playing as close to consistently up around his potential thus far in his development over years from HS. What does this do to his confidence?
(+)Rashard can shoot like Andray likes to think Andray can

                                  and finally

(?)Orlando is now in contention for A FACT in my opinion, as a result of both of these moves. They were in danger of being left behind, Otis Smith sensed that, and acted.

2 things. Take a closer look at their contracts. I dont see how Lewis's deal is anywhere near identical to Arenas. Not even close.

And Orl WERE contenders before this trade, hard to say what they are now.

I wonder if Orlando looked into trading Carter/Gortat to detroit for Hamilton/Prince instead of Richardson/Truk

Detroit already has gordon signed long term and Rip makes 12.5M the next two years. They take on Carter and get Gortat a center they need for the future

I don't like the phoenix trade but love the washington trade. They lose to much giving up Gortat is to much. THey don't have anyone to replace him. I like that they gave up carter and replaced him with arenas/richardson but hedo is nothing special anymore.
