Heading to St Louis for big poker game
Back on Peoria for Xmas (only time I could get 4 days off). Got word of a big poker game. It's 20 miles outside of Stl, guy hosts it once every 5 months, played a year ago. Game runs for 24 hours, has dealer, great food, beer, the whole 9 yards.
Game starts I'm 2.5 hours. 25/50 NL. Min buyin 1k, no max. Max rake $7 per pot. On the list for start of game, 21 people on the list already. If u don't show up 20 minutes after ur called u lose ur spot.
Lost 2.5k last time I played. Hopefully I can make it back plus some this time. I'll keep it all updated

Kills me that people have to wait a year for shit like this. Theres 10 card rooms within 40 miles of me that have 150k on the table every night. Must suck to have to drive far to play a poker game.

For instance there's a 5/10 game at a local card room i play at. The minimum buy in is 500 and the maximum is 2500. After you go bust the Max buy in is to match the chip leader. Long story short people are rebuying for 4-10k at times. This game is probably much better than any other game not in vegas. The commerce(LA) didnt even have nothing like it nor did reno.

shit 25/50 at this place people wud have 2 million on the table hahaha,

But neways iwin when you heading out there?

Sacramento,CA. Thats why i hated playing in LA. Must be some county law or maybe they feel people like these "small" games better. But at the commerce in LA(the biggest poker room in the usa), all the no limit games have single capped buy ins. If you want to play 2/5 the only buy in is 200. You cant buy more, cant buy less. seems to me like there turning away action by doing that.

PS this style of play is true at all card rooms in sac(with the match the chip leader) with stakes of 1/3 of higher. They dont do it for 1/2 because those people are more recreational and i guess they want to keep it a smaller game to keep the recreational players in the game(the ones that buy in for 40)

Obviously has its downsides though. But if you just want action there's no better concept.

id be very leery of games like this, people can think what they want but good chance there is some collusion or cheating involved especially with those stakes
