There's only two places that I regularly drink beer.

Greece - Mythos (not a lot of options beside this but it does fine)
CZ - Pilsner Urquell (almost as good as Stella)

There's one place I never drink beer.

Spain (everything I have had there is terrible)

From the glass-lined tanks of Old Latrobe ....

I knew there was a little Pennsylvania in you

Beer is also a favorite topic of mine. We are fortunate in Asheville, where I live, to have 5 local breweries that make some mighty fine beer.

i used to live in York PA for a bit, what a shithole. it was ghetto fabulous so kids were scared to go to the bar where you could buy 40s so i had to do it all the time. id just go in and drink and come back out 2 hours later with everyones orders.

              York is near Philly, no?

Even as a PA girl I can admit that one of the worst beers on the planet is an Iron City light.

IC is not so bad - but the light version is terrible.

York is just over the border, about 40 minutes north of Baltimore. Probably 2 hours from Philly. York county is supposed to be decent, but the city is dump.

Getting hammered and spending more than 30 minutes somewhere is why I drink beer instead of swallowing a fifth in 45 minutes.

I can't believe nobody has brought up Belgian beer!! The best stuff in my opinion. Can't go wrong with Chimay or Kwak.

I drink Stella as my main go-to beer. I like Chimay - red label the best - and Duval is also a very good Belgian beer. It's very high gravity, though.

                              Mo,

When you travel to countries whose drinking policy is see over the counter, you get to try a lot of different beers at a young age. Only reason I know about Pyrat Rum is that I went to Anguilla in December and it's their local alcohol, which is now owned by Patron. Great stuff.

Has anyone ever had Windhoek Lager? Supposed to be a great Namibian beer and I see it's available at Bevmo (Californian alcohol superstore for you East Coast types).

In Germany they had a law from the old days, Reinheitsgebot, where beer must be made from barley, hops & water, that's it. No fillers, no bullshit. How Budweiser can legally call their product beer is beyond me.
It might just be me but I find that as I grow older i'm more concerned with the quality of the drink than I am about getting wasted.

That is a good beer. One of the many times (6 maybe) that I've taken the tour in Golden, I met some alleged descendant of the original Killians in the hospitality room of the brewery. Got to have more than three samples that time.

We took a tour of the Memphis Coors brewery when I was in college and we had to be escorted away from the premises for spending too much time at the sample bar.
