Do southern guys bet on anything? If they don't bet on NASCAR,how could they be interested in even betting on Alabama football?

I see a child's mentality towards wrestling where they whole heartedly worship their favorite wrestler when I see all these guys that look like Larry the cable guy showing up by the 100's of thousands for NASCAR races.Well,at least NASCAR is real and not fake like wrestling but it's still embarrassing seeing guys like this with man crushes being groupies at these races.

Has anyone ever been in Vegas when the NASCAR race took place there like it did last week?I was there one year and you would think they would be gambling on NASCAR but there are hardly any books that think it's worth their time to book NASCAR.Same goes for NASCAR online where it doesn't seem popular or available too much to bet on.

When I was in Vegas you could tell it was NASCAR weekend because I saw thousands of guys with mullets,Billy Bob teeth and rifles hanging up in their pickup trucks.hehe!

Maybe you didn't take a good look around. NASCAR is huge is vegas and so is the betting. The bookmakers might not like it but they all churn out something for the race because it brings in the action if only one week a year.

I, for one, prefer the NASCAR race week vegas crowd compared to.. oh say the NBA All Star game crowd, the CES crowd, and even the March Madness crowd. NASCAR fans are friendly and fun. Two races a year in Vegas would be cool I think. Certainly brings in a sellout.

Brent prior to neteller going down for Americans and being limited at books the action on NASCAR was huge. I tried betting matchups and the lines changed faster than a hooker can get dressed.

Now there is almost no movement on NASCAR lines and I doubt many bet on it seriously. This is due to the difficulty in getting money offshore. Those in the know do it, but Billy Bob isn't going to WALMART to moneygram anything so he can bet on gordon, stewart or jr.

Brent, it's probably because most of us down south are just plain stupid, dirt poor and culturally ignorant.

Yes, all of us southerners live out of trailers, look up and aspire to be Jeff Foxworthy and our favorite event to attend each year is Monster trucks.

BentCrude, This southern man went to Daytona 500, just got back from Atlanta, and yes, I have plenty of rifles (and bows for deer and elk hunting). You must've been watching Vegas with Bob Yucker (not in the pits) where I was with all the hot women, owners, drivers and driver's wives. I've probably bet more on college hoops the last two days than you have all year.

I tend to agree. Guy on my street, hangs the NASCAR flag/ Jr. Flag on his house. Has a large crowd of rednecks over to watch all the races. They side bet each other and do a season points pool. They bet a lot of money, just homegrown gambling though, these people don't bet internet at all.

Nascar is a midly bet sport, books take very little action on it
