    Pirates sign Kevin Correia
I know not many will care but I feel as if this is one of the better signings the Pirates have made in a decade. Makes me believe they may be willing to throw some dough around improve their team. With the young talent they already have in place I believe if we get another quality starter and an upgrade at shortstop they maybe be able to get over the hump this year.

    Lets go Bucs!

Better hope he just had a down year last season. A +5 ERA for SD? Yikes. I see they just signed Matt Diaz too. Pirates just stuck in neutral like usual.

Correia + Scott Olsen = more mediocre pitching. I have been a long suffering Buccos fan and all these are ... are arms to try to get to the bullpen. I'd much rather see them waste money on Brandon Webb to see if he recovers from injury even if that's a longshot.

Diaz is a nice bat that I like and will make cutting Milledge a little more sensible. Read they want a SS like Hardy or Bartlett. That'd be nice.

Hardy or Bartlett would be very nice. And I agree Correia had a mediocre year last year but he did have a solid 3.91 ERA the previous year. He is most definately a step above someone like a Charlie Morton, Kevin Hart or Daniel McCutchen. I think he will be a solid fit in the rotation throughout the year.

I remember him on the Giants, he was a good pitcher. A battler, you could do worse.

Growing up the Phillies were so bad and I remember being excited over mediocre signings and to me this Pirates situation with Diaz / Correia took me back a bit but I do believe that if the Pirates are willing to add a bit more to that team that they could possibly, in a year or so break the .500 streak. Their pitching is just not there yet for this year.

Those pitchers are horrible, are you kidding me?

Correia got bombed by the horrible hitting NL West on a pitcher-friendly ballpark. Don't see him improving in the Central

I like the Correia signing. Keep in mind, his brother died last May, and that definitely marred his season.

Having to talk yourself into being excited about Kevin Correia. Somewhere there is a Yankees fan scratching his head.

Correia was on fire as a starter until his brother passed away. When he came back from his brother's funeral, his numbers went way down. I believe in Kevin and if he can pass the past, he should win some games in Pittsburg.

Kevin Correia was the weakest link in the padres pitching rotation and even he agrees with me on that

you Pirate fans looking for SS: Hardy to O's, Bartlett to the Pad's. Looks like they are trying to sign Bill Hall though. On a realated note, I'm glad I don't have to heckle that bum Hardy anymore, he was awful with the Twins.

They won 35.2% of their games last year, so you basically just told me they should of won like 25% of their games last year.

Not really sure what Correia did last year to merit a pay raise. As a Padres fan, I can't help but think they'd have made the playoffs if he had decided to take time off after the loss of his brother rather than playing when his he clearly wasn't into it. Can't blame him though, hope he bounces back this year.

The top 5 of the batting order will be better and more productive than just about every team in the league. Alvarez will bomb at least 35 homers, and in the post steroid era, that is a sizable number. Keep him behind Jones and Jones will get a fukkton of pitches to hit. Neil Walker will hit over .300. McCutcheon will hit .285-ish and steal 40+ bases. Tabata is going to be a break out star this year. Of course 3 years from now, when all their pitching prospects finally reach the big leagues, 4 of those 5 guys will be gone.

They'll win 74 games this year, but score a shit load of runs. Over.
