This if fukkin God truth about gambling. Most of us here can't live without it. And when we try to quit it for good, six days/weeks/months later we come slithering back to the action. The action is such a rush...
But if you're losing the rent money, get some help. Gambling is NOT for people who are trying to pay off old credit card debts. You need to own a bankroll that you don't care if you lose the whole roll. That's the only way to have fun with this if you're not a pro.

If you do it for a hobby then don't try using winning formulas, just place your opinion on every game and watch the game, it's much more fun. You'll have more fun by placing 10-20% of your bankroll/bet.
If you want to become a pro bettor, then the 1st step is to read this book:
The book suggest 1% bets for every starter and if you are getting better you'll be capable of placing 1-2-3% bets depending on you edge.
With placing 1% bets even if you are losing money you'll stay in game for years without redepositing money.
If you are not having fun or don't want to make a lot of cash as a pro bettor, then you should find another hobby.

Nick you are correct except that it can be done, first and foremost learn that there is no need to deposit and don't, except if you are doing so for super good bonus. Learn true patience as well and you will succeed.
Your next step is to save your points or try betting them through Thaddeus & Batemans points book n attempt to gain $50. in starting bankroll through SBR store. If you can't do it with their money then how in the hell can you do it with yours. Never deposit another penny.

The way to make money is to be on the other side of the counter or work in the industry. Find a paying job that keeps you close to the action/number crunching. If that doesn't work, bet $5 a game and play for your food, beer and gas money.
Gambling for some I think is void filling.

Good for you.
Most years I have to offset losses by starring in Hollywood films to generate a positive cash flow during the off-season.

Probably 1% of people win, that's it. Take a break and see if you still really want to quit. If thats still the case, then just simply close your account and request that it never be re-opened. Good Luck to you.

Wow so many responses.. I appreciate the advice and support from most ppl (including you JJ but I don't have ur #).
I've decided to take cut down..I need to rethink my strategy..I've never used line movements in any betting decision, more trends and matchup history, injuries etc. I've done great in football but I got wiped by basketball, hockey, and listening to handicapper's picks when I knew in my heart the pick stunk. I'm going to bet one-a-day for a while, small units, until I get out of my cold spell.

Anybody that has ever gambled has been where you are. Anybody that tells you any differently is full of shit. Bottomline, in order to be successful at it you must love the challenge of it and embrace it. Several years ago I made the decision to change my ways and use a good BR stategy for me that did not bankrupt me when I run bad. Everybody runs bad here and there. Gambling is the game within the game for us that can no longer play the game itself. You need to change your attitude into focusing on the process of being successful rather than the result. Be more process oriented rather than results. It takes time and a lot of work, but it can be done. It's not the easiest thing in the world no doubt and I find myself in some bad runs that causes me to doubt myself also. I get more satisfaction out of being right than making money now. My thoughts are not even on the money itself anymore. Money is just the way we keep score.Money is simply our ammo. Be honest and ask yourself are you putting enough into it to give yourself a chance to be successful? Most things in life you get out what you put in. You can't just look at the lines a few minutes and say "that looks good". You need to know a multitude of things to give yourself a chance and even then it is still hard but it can be done.

There is your big problem man. You havent done much research into the teams and games. When i started, the first couple of months i lost like 2k bc i picked games based on who i thought was going to win without doing research, but after losing the 2k i felt horrible and wanted to quit too. Instead i woke up one morning told my myself i wasnt gonna bet on games that i thought were too close to call, lines that i didnt like, and i wouldnt bet without doing any research on any particular game. Thats what i did. A couple of months later, im not rich but ive been doing pretty good for myself. It has been said a million times in this forum, but i will say it again. Money management and patience is key. If you want to win money follow that plus research and you will be fine in the long run. If your in it just for the rush and for fun well don't expect to make much.

If I'm on a cold spell..do I take a break and hope to come back hot? I would think that break or no break, whenever I start betting again I will still be cold until I bet my way out of it and start to get hot again, right?
