Back 15 years ago, they used to show NBA on NBC every sunday i recalled. They had double headers and triple headers and i recalled most people had no cable tv at that time yet they still got to watch these games on NBC. Even 7-10 years ago when the Lakers were playing for the championship with Shaq and Kobe, i still recalled they played quite a few regular season games on NBC as well. Then suddenly the NBA finals was no longer on NBC and went to ABC
.
Not only that, but do you guys notice they show NO nba games on regular TV until i think late in January and i recall from last year its only 1 time a week on sunday at the most and those games are meaningless since they are played in the afternoon? They do show the game on Christmas with the Lakers of course every year but thats it? I mean they have this commotion about Lebrons James, Wade and Bosh but if you don't have cable.... TNT and ESPN, you cannot even catch any of the games if you don't have cable TV.
ABC only shows the Western Conference Finals on television and probably only does a few games one with Sunday and another with Saturday. I mean all real fans have cable to watch TNT/ESPN but i really can't believe why don't the big networks broadcast NBA more on television? They pretty much only show the finals and that is it. TNT and Espn pretty much does all the broadcasting. The same can be said about baseball. They showed most of the playoff games on TBS and the World Series on Fox.
I mean look at the NFL. They always show a CBS and FoX game so you always have a game at 1pm and 4pm eastern time. Of course if you want to watch every other game you need direct tv package but thats like getting NBA league pass so its a different story. Basically the only game that's on cable tv every week is monday night football and thursday night football though back then monday night football was the best on ABC many years ago with Al Michaels. Right now they have the sunday night football game of the week and its on NBC which i feel is the best channel when airing sports like they did with the NBA on NBC many years ago. Every playoff football game as well is on either CBS , NBC or Fox.
Can someone explain why they don't show more regular season nba/mlb games on national tv like CBS, NBC, or ABC? That would get a lot of audience watching it. I mean i know these sports on are espn/tnt a lot because they are sport channels but why don't they air any of these sports on noncable tv?
