Any reasons I should not take these for the max?
Jeremy Bonderman (Det) -1½ wins -110
Matt Cain (SF) +1½ wins -120

Bonderman looks like a lock in this bet. Had a bad year last giving up alot of runs in early innings, but still was able to win some of those games b/c of tigers lineup. Now the lineup is even better and not just because of cabrera. Plus I look for sf to struggle this season, so even if Cain pitches well, he will still lose b/c of run support.

Justin Verlander (Det) -½ wins -110
Carlos Zambrano (Cubs) +½ wins -120

Zambrano had injury issues last season and Verlander proved he was no one year wonder. Z just got his new contract and would not suprise me if had less then steller year, and if he is even slightly hurt will not resitate to sit out, esp if cubs have no shot at playoffs. With more run support Verlander should not have to pitch as many innings and with healthy bullpen tigers should be able to hold more wins for Verlander, while Cubs blow wins for Z.

Anyone disagree with these? I truly cannot see either one of these losing and the max is not very high I think $500.

yeah Z had a very shaky roller coaster season last year and won 18 games. I like the Bonderman bet but I wouldnt go against Z

On the surface, I do like the Verlander bet a lot better (the 30-cent juice notwithstanding). My major concern with taking any Deteroit starter though is their bullpen can take away a lot of wins.

            The first bet is excellent.

The second has no value either way.

Depending on what you think your edge is, TVM is a serious concern with any long term bet. Another reason to not bet the max would be if your bankroll is fairly small.

              LT,

              the 30-cent juice notwithstanding
Who cares what the juice is if you can get a good line?

i like bonderman bet. cain was not impressive at all last year, but with bond gone, the giants should be more focused this year, so who knows.

                  What about:

Erik Bedard (Sea) +1½ wins -130
Jake Peavy (SD) -1½ wins +100

You mean with the only remotely productive player in their lineup gone? Oh I forgot the Giants picked up Aaron Rowand in the offseason to replace Bonds. Sabean is a genius.

Cain is a STUD due for a breakout season. The Tigers have a lot of age and with age comes injury. That one is of course very possible but not the lock you are making it out to be.

I only agree with that if the -110 he is getting is indeed the best line available. But if there is a 20-cent future book offering -105, it is the difference between getting a "good" line and getting the "best" line.
