When it comes to the BCS, if you can't beat 'em, join 'em. I wish the Big 12 would have taken them and Houston instead. It would have kept the Big 12 championship game, and been more like the SWC.

The good thing is that the TCU campus is less than 10minutes from DFW Airport.

They aren't going to the Big 12 because you already have 3 texas teams.. conferences want to grow into other states and markets and therefore able to push up tv contracts... It's really that simple. Several Millions of dollars from tv pays for a lot of gas.

Good for them, they have always been a school dedicated to their football program, just no way they get the recruits staying in their old conference.

For Football it makes sense... to have a 17 team conference for basketball is just retarded.

The Dallas Cowboys are in the NFC east. They are only 15 minutes from the TCU campus.

That will be an awful lot of traveling for those teams that have to play them. That is going to get pretty expensive. Good for the airlines bad for the players.

New Mexico State would be good for Big East football. It is absurd that they are a BCS conference. Theyve never had a championship contender.
I think its good for TCU, because its almost guaranteed they will be playing in a BCS bowl for the next few years..............But i really dont think they wanted to go head up with Boise and wanted to leave that conference.

I mean its a no brainer for TCU, for god's sake UCONN may get a BCS auto birth for the big east this year. TCU would be double digit favorites against UCONN.
"Nova may be joining the Big East in football also. Lets get it boys.

THis is really bad for the big east because now none of them will be able to earn an automatic spot in the BCS. TCU will easily win this conference

Shotgun wedding. Big East needed TCU, TCU needed an AQ bid.
The girl TCU wanted to be with (Big XII) wants a man not within the current footprint, but she has a rough history with those guys in their past relationships (Arkansas, Nebraska, Colorado). She will likely have to settle with the friend of those guys (Air Force, BYU).
It's a wash travel wise seeing how Hawaii, Nevada-Reno, Boise State, and Fresno State will be joining the MWC.
Good choice for TCU football. Will be in the running for the BCS bid every year. Also opens another section of the country for televising Big East sports.

Geography is not going to have anything to do with the landscape of college sports any more. It's all about money. I'm a TCU alum and I love this move for one because my favorite college basketball team IS NOT TCU, but Syracuse and now I will have a chance to see them play in person. I firmly believe the men's basketball program was a sacrificial lamb in this deal. This was all about football. The TCU men's hoops program has been a joke for more than a decade, so what does it matter if they win 3 or 4 games in the Big East every year and finish near the bottom. Football got its BCS affiliated bid, Baseball also wins big here as the Big East gets TCU a better profile while the Froggies will still be the best team in their conference in that sport. Women's hoops will be interesting. TCU has a solid program in that sport - don't give a shit about it, but they are solid. They will get crushed by UConn like everyone else, but they could gain a bigger profile if they can stay afloat on that next level of Big East schools in hoops.

Obviously, geography doesn't play a role now and I certainly agree this is a decision solely to benefit the football program. I would be curious to see a comparison of travel distances and cost. I'm sure the $15 million will cover travel costs. Also, how does a TCU alum become a Syracuse basketball fan?

God all mighty why do such a thing ... going from one bad conference to another bad football conference. The Big East has been trending down ever since BC, Miami & V Tech left. Dominating this conference of softies won't get them in the Big Game either. This just shows that teams like Boise & TCU don't want to really play with the tough conferences (I can't imagine they wouldn't be accepted into the Big 12 if they applied). Boise also goes from bad to maybe worse conference.
