The Saints agreed to a four-year contract with Randall Gay, worth up to $17.6 million, according to a league source.

The deal is worth about $6.7 million in salary and bonuses over the first two years, with a chance to go up to $9 million, based on playing time.

Gay, who is from Brusly and played at LSU, made the Saints his first visit and his first priority in free agency. The Saints were likewise interested in the 25-year-old cornerback, targeting him as the best value at the position in free agency.

They sure better have phenomenal defensive line play similar to the Giants in the Super Bowl, because their corners are going to be beaten like redheaded stepchildren if the QB's have time.

I think Mike McKenzie is still under contract. He's serviceable and reasonably talented... But that defensive system requires them to be on an island all the time - which means they get burned ALL THE TIME.... David was a horrible signing because he played in more zone coverage or bracket type coverage... Gay is from a similar system to David with less man-up or press responsibility.

Realistically - there aren't many corners that fit what the Saints really need, and they cost a ton of $$. No idea why you'd want to go there as a street DB. You're just gonna get toasted and be out of the NFL in 2 years - hopefully he got some good up-front money.
