#4QB play killed the Horns all season long...tonight was no exception. I know the kid is a true soph but he really didn't seem to improve during the year.

#8Not wow if you have watch the team all year. Not a good season. It's really not that important to go to the Alamo bowl or some other shit bowl.
Its always big for other teams to beat Texas. They have to get their shots in while the "Program" is down.Comment -

#13Agree I'm really surprised they didn't give someone else a shot. They can't feel like Gilbert progressed as the year went on.Comment -

#14It wasn't just the quarterback. The offensive line was a problem this year also. Gilbert was running for his life quite a bit this year, and the running game was practically nil.Comment -

#21Hate to say this but: Garrett Gilbert = Chris Simms. Good, but not quite good enough. Might not have what it takes.
Then again the O-line was in shambles this year, and this was just not a power rushing team.
The backup QB's were both freshmen this year. Conner Wood and Case McCoy (Colts's little brother) both were not ready to play yet.
Defense was a mess too.Comment -

Was happy to see my Ags win, even at the expense of my UT ML wager. That bet was looking pretty damn good until Gilbert fumbled on that first-&-goal play in the second quarter. Will be interesting to see where A&M gets an invite now.Comment -

#25This should lay to rest the comparisons of programs: Alabama and Texas. Both were the best last year, Texas is awful this year whereas Alabama is still respectable.Comment -

But you're right, SD is about as close to perfect weather as you can get and Aggies have had some luck in that bowl. I'm hoping for Cotton, but not betting on it.Comment -

#29For those of you who don't know....the Big 12 bowl affiliations have changed.
Last year it was
1. Fiesta
2. Cotton
3. Holiday
4. Alamo
This year the bowl it changed to
1. Fiesta
2. Cotton
3. Alamo
4. Insight
5. Holiday
I only make that post to say that
1) the alamo bowl is not a bad bowl like someone in this thread said.
2) No way is A&M going to the holiday bowl. If OSU beats OU tomorrow I think A&M will go to the Cotton Bowl because the Big 12 Championship is in Dallas and the Cotton Bowl doesnt wanna take the loser of that game. If not, they are probably going to the Alamo BowlComment -

You may wanna take off those crimson colored glasses. Yes, Texas just had thier bowl strek snapped. However, Bama failed to make a bowl 4 times during Texas' streak. (99,02,03,08)
Bama has a very good program, but that statement doesnt have anything to do with anything.Comment -

#33Guys, Im a Longhorn...Played Austin HS Football and am all about UT.
I respect all the comments here because yes, our team was awful this year but in my opinion several things took place this year. Along witht he change in QBs, a very important change was the overall game approach. UT went from the pass happy offense, with Colt giving the run-option, to seeking a more "old-school" run game.
I agree, NO! the run game did NOT work. However, I see this program being right in it next year. This was a disastrous year for our standards. NAT CHAMPIONSHIP all the way down to NO BOWL? christ! but, thats why its a game...and thank god there are shift in powers, if u will. It would be boring if it was the same teams year in and year out.
I guess UT is no exception to that statement. It was our turn to take the short end of the stick this year. We had to suck some time...now, i must admit, i dont believe they will be a top ten team next year, but im sure they will be respectable and a top 25 team by the end of next year. If they have similar results to this year, i will freak out. lol...
great discussion..i bet all those of u anti-UT fans are having a ball this year (not that everyone in this discussion is). I am enjoying watching USC not be so dominant as well. Its fun to watch teams like Oregon up there...really is.
Also, crazy to think that during that mid-summer shift in conferences UT had such an upper hand in negotiations. They got the whole big 12 to play around their needs pretty much. Now look at how poor our team did.
Peace guysComment -

#35they took the best high school qb that ran the spread offense and put him under center trying to use their new "power running game" behind a shitty OLand then mack goes on to say he had no idea gilbert could run. are you ******* kidding me? he rushed for 1424 yards and 32 TDs in high school(774 yds and 23 TDs his senior year)
