Cris Weekly Review Feb 13th
With the NFL Pro Bowl now over, it’s good bye to the Football season. Pro Bowl games are usually thought of as high scoring games, but this year the wind proved to control the passing game and keep the scores a little lower than usual. The game total opened at 66.5 points and went as high as 69.5 points until it settled at kick off at 67.5 points. The NFC upset the AFC 23-17 and we won the game total, but the public did pretty well in the game overall. The AFC were favored by 4 points at kick off, but value bettors took the +4 in a game where there normally isn’t a ‘blow out’.
As a Sports book its always sad to see the end of the football season, and in the past it usually meant the beginning of the slow season but with the expanded sports that we offer bets on now here at www.betcris.com, it just means our focus is now more spread out.
NHL is now on a two week break with the Winter Olympics starting in Torino, Italy. We will be covering all the games in the Hockey, as well as the major Winter sports to ensure our ‘Cold Weather’ bettors have something to bet while the NHL is resting.
The Winter Olympics are already upon us and the response from our customers has been terrific. In particular, sports like the Ice Hockey where Canada are short -120 favorites to win the gold medal and have attracted a lot of support from the opening price of +185 when we opened it back in December.
Aaron Oberholser broke though for his first PGA Tour victory by winning the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am on Sunday. Oberholser started the week at odds of 32/1 and immediately received support from the public, and one of our best Golf bettors bet $1000 at the odds of 30/1, so they enjoyed a great weekend at our expense.
NBA was a shining light for us this week, and with matches like Detroit at Miami on Sunday, action was terrific. College basketball however was a different story. This week the public definitely did well and game totals especially seem to be going the public’s way. March Madness is just around the corner and it shows with the action starting to come in.
The Nascar season gets underway this week after the Budweiser Shootout and Gatorade Duel’s were completed on Sunday. The Daytona 500 will start with Jeff Gordon, Tony Stewart and Dale Earnhardt Jnr all equal favorites at +450. We will be offering many different types of wagers on this big event so log on to www.betcris.com and check it out.
Until next week,
Shane Catford
