    Fantasy Basesball Keepers?
I can keep 15 of my 25 man roster. But I dont have to,.

Salary Cap is 260. We have 260 to spend at the auction.

I am debating hard whether or not to keep...

    James Shields at 6 dollars
    Rich Hill at 17 dollars
    Ryan Theriot at 5 dollars
    Adrian Gonzalez at 11 dollars
    James Loney 8 dollars
    Jeremy Guthrie 4 dollars

    Most likely will NOT keep:

    Carlos Beltran 47 dollars
    Lance Berkman 40 dollars
    Derek jeter 32 dollars

    I am 100% keeping:

Konerko 21 (Longtermed from a few years back)
Mauer at 16 dollars (Longtermed from a few years back)
Bonderman 15 dollars (Longtermed from a few years back)
    Hawpe at 5 dollars
    Verlander at 8 dollars
    Escobar at 3 dollars
    Victorino at 5 dollars

    Thanx in advance!

    Bye bye Rich Hill.

A-Gonz is nice, but he's basically only useful for 81 games (on the road) because of Petco. You could prob. find better value. At the least, have a capable backup to platoon so you can sit Gonz for home games.

Yes, I think it's too expensive.

        Def. keep Loney and Shields.

Yunel Escobar, right? Very sharp. Kid's going to be a star.

Unless the price is astronomical, get Clay Buchholz if you can.

          Kelvim.

          Clay is gone.

This is a very sharp league. Been around since 1982. I joined 3 seasons ago.

Someone had Joba and Hughes 2 yrs ago.

I had Hanley 3 yrs ago but traded him for Bonderman and Jeter for the stretch run! I won last year. But wish I had Hanley!

I need some young talent steals for the draft. Most guys were drafted last yr or picked up mid-season.

We only have 2 Waiver moves all year: End of April and End of June.

as i mentioned, ive never done a salary cap league. 4 bucks seems cheap, he'll have a decent season. id guess 11 wins and an era around 4.10

                        you should.

once you do this format, you'll never want to try anything else.

I think he will outplay his $17 value. Will be worth $20 something next year. Will be near the top in k's. Should get good number of wins, good whip. Expecting a good year from him

I disagree. The bidding part is fun, I like that. But I do not enjoy leagues that allow more than 4-5 keepers from one year to the next. And each one of those that allowed 10+ keepers fell apart after a few years.

We're about to hold our 25th annual draft in my primary league, and we only allow five set contracts to be carried over. Once a contract is up with one team, that player has to re-enter through the draft. It keeps a strong list of players heading into the draft each season, and I'm sure that is one reason we've been able to keep it going for a quarter century now.

As for your original question, **, I'd keep Adrian Gonzalez and I'd also probably keep one of those three players you have on your dump list. If you're intent on holding over both Gonzalez and James Loney, then you probably don't want to keep Lance Berkman. That's great value on Brad Hawpe, by the way.

I was offered Bedard (11 dollars) for Hawpe (6 dollars).

btw this league has been going since 1982!

You draft a guy and he can be on your team for 3 years, if you want. Then after the 2nd year he enters his Option year. You then have the option to either longterm him as long as you want (5 additional dollars per year), let him go, or just let him finish the last year of his original contract.

That's great. You must be an old fart like me

We allow for contracts to be signed from 1-10 years (the longer the deal, the more you pay per year). If you dump a player with time remaining, you owe the balance of the contract. Just five contracts per team (at draft time, you can acquire more contract players via trades in a season, but once the next draft hits, you have to be back down to five meaning you have to buy out any excess deals). We've got 16 teams split into two divisions, head-to-head, 11 categories (fielding the odd one). Vast majority of our money winds up in a charity for kids, something I'm very proud of, even more so than the years I've won. We'll have three generations of folks at our draft in Houston this year, another fun part of the league being we rotate draft sites all across the country.

old fart? nah...tho i feel it many times!

i joined 3 seasons ago. I came in 2nd last season. But thats because i mortgaged my future for the stretch run. I traded Holliday and Hanley away for the likes of Hawpe, Jeter, Bonderman, Konerko, Bonderman almost single handedly ruined me.

                                          I'm just 28.

                                          You're league seems great too!!
