    My Local Owes Me $1100...
So my local owes for 1600 and some change and we made arrangements for him to pay me a nickel a week +$50 each week. Same deal I pay him if I am losing.

Last couple of weeks have been bad for me online. Busted out my 5dimes acct and posted up at BetJam and kaput that also. I think I over extended my wagers knowing that I had the $1100 still coming in and didnt sweat a couple of big losses cause I knew I had more $$ coming in. Well Friday I call up my local to get some bets in for the weekend and set up a pick up of some cash. I called and no answer about 11am. I call back at 2pm and 3pm still no answer. I called back at 7pm and a female answered, and it was his wife. She told me that Isaac had passed away on Tuesday from natural causes. She also let me know she had nothing to do with his "operation" and this phone was being turned off today.

My local was small time, but a good guy. Makes me wonder what really happened though. He was in his 50's and did this for fun. He told me that long ago he figured out he could not win betting so he decided to take the other side and take bets. Pretty smart guy! RIP Isaac. I am still pissed that I am out $1100 though. I am stuck betting points for a week or two.

That blows man. A local I had in 2003 had a heart attack in the bar he worked out of and passed away. I was down 400 for the week so figured well at least I won't have to pay in. WRONG! Some dude called me and said that he was taking over Eddie's shit and wanted to make arrangements. I told him I thought he was an undercover and we would not be meeting.Karma bit me in the ass though. My National Guard unit got called up the next week to go to Iraq.

Stake out his house. 50 is kinda young to die from natural causes.

IF he normally answered EVERY time you'd call, then I would of called twice, thought something fishy when he didn't answer either, then go grab a buddies phone (better if it was a buddy who bets with this guy also, and is down) And call him up from a different phone. If he had answered, you'd ask him what's going on.

Kinda sucks...But if the guy had really passed away, then RIP. I for one know I probably wouldn't be telling my wife I was even running a book operation if I was. She's fine with it, and knows I bet, and doesn't care one bit, but still...wouldn't want her friends knowing that I do that, which I'm sure most ladies would talk about it.

He wasnt that kind of guy. He was pretty old school about things. If he owed he was going to pay. I always paid when I lost and never had an issue with him paying. I was happy with the $550 a week deal, so no reason to stiff me. (Pun intended)

okay, this is a true story but many of you won't believe it. A friend of mine had this same identical situation, his bookie died owing him money. He told me he attended the wake and asked the wife if there was an envelope for him. Yes, this is the truth. I know I had trouble believing it too and when he told me I thought I would bust a gut laughing.

You should go to the wake and pay your respects and maybe he will be wearing a nice watch. Just take the watch and recoup some of your losses.

A guy owed me a $4,000 poker debt, and I was suppose to pick it up from him on a Saturday after playing golf. Instead of going to his house to get the money and play card, I stopped off a chick's house to hang out for a while, and I ended up hanging out naked in her hot tub for the rest of the night. The guy that owed me money died in a car wreck the next morning. Though he was in his 50s, I never had the heart to ask his wife of less than 6 months for the money.

About 18 months later, I was playing card with my regular group that that included my debtors friends. One of the players in the game heard me tell the story and admitted that he owed the guy about $3,000 so he paid me that night out of his winnings.

I could never ask his wife for the money. I am not that way. She is having a tough time dealing with everything as it is. I feel sorry for her, and like I said this guy was a good guy. Never one time had an issue with him. He did this for fun and making a little money on the side.

He owns a body shop. I have been by there.

His name was on the marquee at the Funeral home. This is small time guys. Nothing "Soprano's" about this.
Get the money from the wife. Seriously. I would.
