Maybe the Redskins thought with that money, he can pay a personal trainer to get him in shape. Then , maybe he wont be pulled in the last 2 minutes, lol.

Seriously, this is the same fuk who brought in STEVE SPURRIER to pro football and thought they were going to the superbowl after destroying teams in the pre season.

Washington has to get the vote for the worst signing in history, first haynesworth, now McNabb, 5 years after his prime.
the wisdom of a fat, dumbazz, broke ex-pizza delivery guy

No matter how you put it...I guy like you criticizing the moves of some multi-millionaires...ridiculous. Your picks also shows you know shiat about football...so why you don't just STFU?

Worst move in the history of sports?

No. Not the best move for the 'skins, but in the history of sports it doesn't even crack the top 10.

One of the worst. 2 weeks ago everyone said DMc would be elsewhere in 2011. Now he gets a 5 year extension - C'mon! We all know that Snyder is an absolute idiot when it comes to his Skins but this is beyond ridiculous. Apparently there is an escape somewhere in this contract but if $40 mill is guaranteed, who cares!

actually , no in the NFL even guaranteed money isn't even guaranteed --- roster bonuses count as guaranteed money which a player doen't get unless he's on the active roster --

The latest info is the actual money he gets if he is cut tomorrow is 3.75 Million .

is if he;s on the roster this is how it breaks down

                      2011: 13.5M
                      2012: 13.75M
                      2013: 13.75M
                      2014: 17M
                      2015: 16.5M

Plus about 2M more per year for playoff incentives (meaning he had to get to the playoffs and perform well to get them), if they cut him at they aren't responisble for any more than the 3.75M plus the years he plays.

So no this isn't a bad deal at all . McNabb may only be an aging average QB at this point, but he;s only filling the hole till Shanny can draft a QB he like and the QB is ready. And Having that put them in better shape than alot of other teams.

Worst move in the History of sports???????

lets not get carried away. c'mon. The skins will continue to be what they are, and the Eagles will be what they are. even if they win a super bowl or two over the next 5 years.

Lets think long term BAD MOVES. and the effect it had on the teams LONG TERM.....

I'd say the bosox trading Babe Ruth will forever go down in history as the worst trade for that period of time..... Plus I really think it impacted the entire culture of those teams...... Had the bosox owner not needed money to back some broadway play, TODAY the red sox might be standing here with around 20 World Series Wins.....

The Redskins paid McNabb $3.75 million in 2010 for the right to pay him $12.5 million in 2011 and control his rights. If the Redskins cut him after this season or trade him, they are only on the hook for the $3.75 million.

                                              for the idiot OP

Donovan McNabb's five-year extension is worth $70 million and can get to $78.5 million if he is on the active roster for every game in those five seasons. The deal's maximum value is $88.5 million if McNabb leads his team to a Super Bowl win every year.

Gotta agree, here. Also to announce it on the same day as MNF is sorta ridiculous, IMO. Nothing like a big contract extension to take your mind of of the game. Or to get your teamates who don't think you are worthy, aggitated. Lousy timing.

they just need to rebuild the team, give him some good wide receivers and improve offense. it's not all donovan's fault, so the contract extension is not exactly a foolish move.
