I have NEVER had a book try and solicit me on my cell phone. I have heard of it happening before but never had anyone call me. Oddsmaker just called my cell phone. I ******* LOST it on the poor woman. She apologized twice and hung up. Anyone ever had this?

I don't get all these threads where guys get upset at a simple phone call. You have the power to end it, use it.

#21Bookmaker.com is the worst at it. They called my house once and discussed my sports book account w/ a third party. I can honestly say that was the most unprofessional thing ANY sports book, casino, or poker room has EVER done to me.
Webster was the guys name ( I was so mad, to this day I remember his name)
Here is one thing I don't understand about SBR ( I would love it if they posted a response to this as I am not the first nor will be the last to comment on this.)
So much of Bookmaker.com's practices run in exact parallel with what SBR describes as a troubled or unprofessional book yet they maintain the A+ rating. Why? Is affiliate earning really that important?
I know I'm not the only one here who wonders about this as it's brought up quite frequently here.Comment -

Why play the game? Then another sales guy calls you a couple weeks from now and you just do that again? Why waste everyone's time? Why not just tell the guy/girl once and be finished with it? What's wrong with you guys?

what the hell are you talking about?
shit books databases? Doesn't happen
talk for hours? Doesn't happen
you can solve it in less than 10 seconds but you rather needlessly rant online spending several minutes.

#29I read Ralphie's first post and thought to myself, this guy is a real asshole.
I then read Dwight's response (without bothering to see who posted it) and said to myself, exactly.

#31The way I see it, no reputable company would ever cold call it's clients, especially ones that deal with finances (this includes sports books.)
I treat my sports book account(s) just like my brokerage accounts, I have money in there to take calculated risks. If a brokerage account ever cold called me to put money in the market it would put up major red flags. Yet it's funny because some of you here act like it's acceptable for a sport book to do so?
Why?
It's all about professionalism, stability, a standards. Any company who resorts to cold calling it's clients is violating at least one of the mentioned.Comment -

Here's where you are wrong.
Firstly, you are saying "cold call" which isn't the proper term. A cold call is when someone calls you out of the blue soliciting for your business. If I opened an account with a sportsbook (and I have with several) I cannot blame a rep for getting to know their client, me. Don't lose sight that you opened the account with them. Especially with US players and with all the fraud out there. It's good business plain and simple.
Secondly, what are we really taling about here? A simple phone call afterall. Why get upset? If you don't want calls, just be polite and tell them. problem solved right? "please take me off your call list thank you" (less time than it's takes you to place and bet and type in your password and you only need to do it once.
Lastly, I was a finacial planner in Canada and I always got to know my clients. Yes, I spoke to some more than others but I always got to know then initially. I had to and it was a company requirement and well as an industry must. If I didn't, I could be fined and even be subject to jail time. If my broker never took the time to me for example, I would have serious questions about him. Comparing a broker to a sportsbook rep is a lot like the apples and oranges analogy but you brought it up afterall.Last edited by DwightShrute; 11-16-10, 12:04 AM.Comment -

ROFL, and you think these people calling are really agents and/or financial planners? Does the guy on the other side of the phone give me advice on money management, ROI, and an injury report and is ultimately looking out for my best financial interest.
It's no different than the tactics a ******* boiler room operation uses.Comment
