I was thinking about wagering against the Yankees for every game this season.

If you did that last season, howd you do?

The Wankees won't win for at least 3 years. The Tigers, Indians, Bo Sox, and Angels are far better off.

      Maybe and Maybe Not.

But I am talking about wagering against them for every individual game!

They will lose at least 60 and most of the time they will be heavily favored!

Interesting theory. How many games did they win last year? You would need a big enough bankroll to survive a win streak of up to maybe ten games.

I am sure someone has the data.

And I'd also like to know how the alternate runline worked against the Yankees last season!

          Thanx in advance!

wow the Yankees are hated, someone at 2+2 had this same idea last year and did it for a while I believe. I stopped following that board. It seems like a ridiculous idea IMHO, would you plan to do this with any other sports team?

I'm a yankees fan. They are a very very public teams and the lines are inflated usually. Might be very profitable.

I'm actually a fan too, not a diehard homer but I'm a New Yorker and go to the games. In all reality this concept isn't that far out there, for instance most people who liked fading the Patriots bet against them on the ML every week. But to actually plan to do it in that many baseball games I'm not sold on. I kind of have the feeling that the Yankees will win over 100 games this year, maybe I am a homer afterall.

Am I reading that right? ATS -1062 units? How many units were wagered per game?

Yankees were -20.1 units last season. Only teams that were worse were the Dodgers (-24.9) and Giants (-20.9). That's despite the Yanks playing .670 (51-25) ball after the ASB. I'm not sure of the exact numbers, but I believe the Yanks were around -45 or so at one point in the midst of their early season struggles.

As for fading the Yanks every game this season, it should be profitable again. The Yankees would likely have to win a minimum of 100 games (probably more) just to turn a slight profit.

THANK YOU!!! Thats what I figured. Such a public team the line is always inflated!

Anyone know how the Alt RL against them did?

You will do especially well betting on the Devil Rays and Angels against the Yankees ... one is the only team to have a winning record against the Torre-Era Yanks and the other is usually a +200 or more ML play that always plays the Yankees tough.

                                No idea on the ARL...

I can just tell you from experience betting the other team ML is REGULARLY a +300 or better affair especially when a lousy pitcher is going for the opposing club.

I destroyed the Yanks on straight upsets when they sent guys like Mussina to the mound.

The Yankees will be one of the preferred daytime dramas of 2008 MLB season. They've got new front office leadership: B$G Bank Hank. They've got a new manager: Joe Garadi. They've got a plethora of unproven young pitchers: Kennedy & Hughes - lol (should have dealt for Santana). They've also got the same old inflated payroll that commands high expectations from both the front office, New York media, and New York fans. Then they've got added pressure to win from the NY Giants Super Bowl win. I don't see this season going well for the Yanks. A-Rod's an asset, but they need quality pitching. They should have dealt for Haren & Santana.
