I'll bet the Daren Steven's and Larry Tate's of the ad agency Subway contracts out with to come up with ad campaigns got fired when it took Jared almost 6 hours to run the NYC marathon.Geesh, maybe Quiznos can find a guy that's still fat that eats alot of Quiznos menu items that can run it in 4 or 5 hours. Now that would be a savvy ad campaign to compete against Subway's failed attempt.

At least it got Subway Club subs down to $5 for a while.

Wasn't it 5 hours and 15 minutes or so? About 12 minute pace for OVER 26 miles.

The guy finished it. 5 miles is easy. 10 miles is tougher. when you get above 15, your body starts failing in progressively nastier ways. I tried training for a marathon a year ago, and never made it past 15 miles.

Don't knock Jared until you do a Marathon in any time.

This sounds like Brent has some sort of dog in this fight because there doesn't seem to be an issue here. The guy finished the marathon, no pr guys will get fired, Subway gets good publicity and Brent and his ad agency is still trying to wrest that contract from the incumbent ad agency. Thread Fail.

A 6 hour Marathon is not anything worth promoting that means he walked half the distance. Must have been great for the fans to watch him walking. Hard to believe he had a personal trainer and has been training since January.

Philswin...1st its Giants win, 2nd marathons are extremely hard, I can guarantee you have never run one or will run one...I am a physical trainer here in the bay area. I have run two half marathons of my own and have helped train countless people for numerous events. These things are grueling, no question about it...while a 6 hr is nothing that should make the news, it is still impressive for someone who is/has been over weight, and to do the NYC marathon as your 1st. Bold move, but I bet the money was right for my dude Jared.

I'm impressed. Did you see this guy? Yes he lost a lot of weight but the guy isn't athletic at all. I was shocked when I seen the tv ad that said he was going to be running. I really didn't believe he would finish at all.

Good for him. I know I'm not putting my body through that abuse that it would take to train and then run a 26 mile race.

Chilean Miner Marathon runner Edison Pena ran, walked and hobbled his way to the finish line of the New York City Marathon, showing the determination that helped him survive more than two months trapped underground.

Wearing a brace on his left knee, Pena finished the 26-plus miles in 5 hours, 40 minutes, the New York Daily News reported.

RUNNUNG a Marathon is an great accomplishment. What that no talent Jared did is a joke. With all the hype and personal trainer and in training since Jan. Read some articles about the Chilean Miner thats a story. IF you show up at the bash next netxt year I will take you for a little run around Vegas maybe you can keep up.

ya he lost some weight but shit the guy could still lose another 60 lbs. Just look at him, he looks uncordinated. Doesn't look like someone who should be running in any race
