It's not illegal. I don't know if the sportsbooks allow you to do it, though.

They'll definitely boot you if they catch you.

No idea on the rule now, but a couple years ago I was asked to remove myself from the sportsbook because I was on my cel phone.

Stay back from the ticket counter or better yet- in back of the book and you should be ok- just ask the particular sportsbook manager what his properties rules are.

Seems property dependent to me. Last time I was there I straight up had my laptop running in the front row with a tethered cell phone connection, watching lines, gathering data, and working that shit in general. People looked at me like I was crazy, but I wasn't the one who is crazy. But like I said, this depends on property. MGM will murder you for even having your hand in your pocket.

I have a related question, would anyone be interested in an Android app that monitors Pinnacle lines? BeeMore what kind of phone do you have?

really depends on the layout of book. at a place like caesars it is almost impossible for them to keep tabs on everyone. there are people there with laptops open and they dont say anything. the cellphone laptop rule is not enforced like it used to be.

You will be put in sportsbook jail. Your cellmate will be the guy who asked in the "Sportsbooks & The Industry" forum if it's legal to hedge a freeplay.

the use of cellphones in sportsbooks(except while at counter) is allowed by NEVADA GAMING CONTROL BOARD. that is the law.

just at the Hilton in Vegas last week and you can use computer and phone. there is a sign at the windows asking you not to use the phone while you are in line

I believe it's legal to use a laptop or a cell phone in a sportsbook (although it may be against casino rules) but it's illegal to use one to make a bet or transmit wagering information.

Too easy to get caught that way. You need to use signals also.

We were waiting for the offshore line on the late game last Sunday.

One guy on the computer upstairs, one guy waiting at the betting window, I'm seated.

The signal was that after I get the call, if I get up and scratch my balls, guy at the window bets on Team A.
If I reach over and scratch my neighbor's balls, Team B is the play.

Got to stay one step ahead of the book.
