Does anyone here see what I see when I frequent downtown Vegas once or twice a year where the downtown casinos seem to be getting worse as far as neatness is concerned?I know a foreign company has bought places like the Plaza,Vegas Club,Lady Luck etc.etc.etc.and they claim to be fixing them up to do business for the long haul? The last time I was in Binion's poker room it was a shame to see the poker wall of fame and then look around the tables to see a bunch of college kids with small bank rolls thinking they were in the movie Rounders.
The downtown always had a seedy reputation but it was kept up better and had neon landmarks where it was like the Mt.Rushmore of the gambling world. The cowboy smoking sign is probably the most recognizable sign in the world and now it sits outside of a grade B souvenir store not even lit up.
In the Fremont one night there were a couple busted cocktail glasses with a brightly colored fruity drink mess all over the slot machine area and it stayed there for hours.
The light show might be ok to see a few times if different music shows play but the open sky had a better feel for being in old Vegas.I remember how easy it was to drive right by all the landmark casinos just a few years ago and those days are gone forever.
