Which college basketball player would you rather have
    a) 5 star recruit, leads the nation in scoring, leaves after his freshman year.

    b) 3 star player, doesnt get many minutes as a freshman, starts a lot of his soph year, 2nd team all conference as a jr, and an all conference player as a sr.

I would take (A) right now because these are guys that a few years back would be in the NBA already so the premier college freshman are as capable now as the 3 star guys are few years down the road.

I can't think of many Juniors or Seniors as talented as Beasley, because if they were that talented they would already be in the NBA. If a team is struggling, it is good to have a player that can take over a game.

you'd have to replace him the following season though. but...thats not necessarily a bad problem to have.

you def want the 3 star recruit...why have a 5 star guy who odds are wont win you a national championship but just is selling seats? good for the AD but it doesnt help the team that much in the long run
