I know all about the chocolate addiction... my girl has the same issue.. I keep some around in case her blood sugar drops too much.

This will sound lame, but sex. There was a while when I was first married, I was fukking every girl that moved. I have never been good at being with just one woman. I still battle with it today. I just dont go out without the wife and I stay out of trouble. If I go out with the guys I have to have an excuse as to why I cant make it home or get home real late. The I am too drunk to drive doesnt work well anymore. Now that I have two kids. I work hard to not stray. Being a good dad is more important.

I don't even think gambling is an addiction to me. I just love to make money on the side of work, and poker is too boring for me.

I do have an addiction to women though. I'm not even the pimp/player type, I just always have to have the attention of a girl. Whenever I don't have a girlfriend I feel like my life just sucks.

Theobromine is the addictive stimulant that is in chocolate. In high quantities, it's a toxic poison that can kill you. It's why you can't give chocolate to small animals.

Chocolate also causes the body to release oxytocin, which is the chemical that is responsible for the feelings of love, trust, bonding, friendship, etc. That feeling that you get when you first start falling in love with a person, or start dating them, etc., is caused by oxytocin. Scientists have now isolated oxytocin into a freakin nasal spray, and have been doing clinical studies with it, amongst complete strangers, in controlled groups. I find that pretty interesting.

So, that's why I said that people have addictions to chocolate because of the theobromine contained in it, as well as because it causes the body to release oxytocin and some added dopamine. It's a feel-good "drug", if you will.

Just think, in Central/South America alone, there are 5 plants that are processed for consumption (I know there's way more; just listing these 5). The coffea plant, the Theobroma cacao plant, the Erythroxylon coca plant, the poppy flower, and the sassafras tree.

One of those plants gives us coffee. Another gives us chocolate. Another gives us cocaine. Another gives us heroin. And the other gives us ecstasy.
