$50 to $2,000 in 45 days for Xmas money :)
    Hey all,

I've been a pretty successful handicapper (for myself, friends and friends of friends) for a few years, but one thing I've never done was take a limited bankroll and increase it exponentially over a set period of time. Well, that's about to change.

Starting today, the goal is to turn a $50 bankroll into $2,000 in a 45 day period.

Why 45 days? Well, it'll be Christmas time and since I am historically a REALLY REALLY late shopper, I figure the extra additional funds can make for some nice presents for my girlfriend, my daughter and her two girls...and maybe I can actually get my shopping done before Christmas eve.

    Anyway, the rules are simple:

    - I'll be wagering on NFL, NBA, NCAA Basketball, NHL and NCAA Football...and if I see a great line on any other sport, I'll play it.
    - The starting bankroll is $50. The goal each day is to achieve a minimum profit of 2 units by achieving a 60-65% win rate.
    - Each wager will be 5% of whatever my bankroll is; however I may play some parlays and teasers and lower rates.
    - Each days profits or losses will determine what the next days bankroll (and therefore, wagers) will be.
    - I'll update my plays and the lines as soon as I get them locked and loaded, and will keep a running tab of the results.

For those of you who wish to tail or fade, applaud or boo, praise or criticize...I look forward to your comments.

If you were a successful handicapper you wouldn't be starting with $50 to have to win christmas money

That didn't take long for the first smart-assed comment to appear LOL. I didn't say I didn't have ANY money to buy Xmas presents, jackass...I said I wanted to do this as a project to see if it could be done...and IF it worked, then I could have EXTRA cash for Xmas. Got it?

OK, enough with the nitwit comments; although I love the playful banter...keeps me entertained. And thanks to all of you who wish good luck. I know this has been tried...although I just registered I do follow all the forums...I personally have never tried it though. Should make for some fun.

Just an FYI, this place is tough on people that start threads like this, just because we have seen so many touts come and go. Best of luck, and just post plays. If you don't promote yourself or make excuses on the other hand you may not get too much shit.

I doubt straightwinners could get humbled that quickly and dramatically...to go from a list of high rolling clients waiting for his picks with baited breath, to "friends and friends of friends". And to winning enough money to buy houses and Lamborghini's to "money for X-Mas presents".

$50 bankroll and 2.5% each wager - So you will start out wagering $2.50 per wager?

PICK #1: San Antonio vs Charlotte UNDER 187 (-110)
                              - The last 6 times these teams have met, their total average output has been 174 points, with the under hitting 5 or the 6 times. My stats indicate this one should be around 179 with another defensive battle.

                              Wagering $2.50 to win $4.77

                              PICK #2: Boston + 3 vs. Dallas (-110)
                              - Yeah, I know Boston is playing their 5th game in 7 days. But they're playing awesome ball right now. They've taken 3 of the last 4 in this matchup, and won both of the last two meetings on Dallas' floor. Dallas starts off strong in this one, and probably takes the 1Q by a few points, but it goes downhill for Dirk and Co. after that. Kidd just looks old, and I see Rondo as the difference maker in this one. Boston wins this one outright; the points are just a gift.

                              Wagering $2.50 to win $4.77

PICK #3: Golden State +1 vs. Toronto
                              - Golden State is winless on the road and are playing b2b, but they've won the last 3 games vs. terrible Toronto. Like most of the time when these two get together, this is going to be an offensive show with not a lot of defense. And once again, Toronto just won't be able to hang for 4Q. Chalk up the first road win of the season for GS and 4 in a row vs. Toronto.

                              Wagering $2.50 to win $4.77

May have a parlay bet later on...want to watch some lines.

Phil, I'm going to make my typical wager 5% of my bankroll for the day. Since I'm starting with $50, the initial bets will be $2.50...parlays and teasers will be 2-3%, depending on the plays. Today's profits will roll into the bankroll, so tomorrow's wagers will be higher (positive thinking always!!!)

No problem, never claimed to be a tout....just been fairly successful making my own picks. Not 75% successful either...I'm usually between 57% and 66% depending on the sport. Hockey still gives me fits.

                                  Thanks for the well wishes.

good luck and thread to observe if something like this can be done. If your pickings are solid as you claim, you should be able to do it. Although every handicapper can run into rough streaks and bankroll management might be key. Maybe I'll start one later on today to compare. Or what about a contest, turn $50 bankroll into whatever till christmas. Highest bankroll wins.

I actually like Cincy plus the points, which is now up to 7 at my book, as well as the over. Not ready to make it an "official" play of mine though. Even though I expect Cincy to play like their season depended on it tonight (which it does), Palmer just looks horrible this year and I don't trust him against the Steelers D.

Thanks...streaks will definitely be a factor in this. I can't say I've ever gone 6 weeks without a cold streak...hell, everyone has them. I figure I need to get out of the gate strong for the first 10 days so I can get the bankroll up and make the wager sizes larger. This betting $2.50 a play is killing me LMAO.

As far as a "winner takes it all" contest, let me get a few wins under my belt!!

Based on my rough calculations if you bet 3 equal plays a day at 5% of payroll- You will have to hit at 79% to meet your goal of $2000 in 45 days

Pick #4: Phoenix Suns Team Total Over 105.5 (-118)
                                                    - Phoenix has only gone below this number one time this season, in the first game of the season against the Blazers. Last matchup against Memphis put them over this number as well in regulation, and with I don't expect them having any problems hitting it again tonight.

Unless you get on a crazy streak I don't see this happening. Triple your bankroll in a month in good. Making 20 times that in a month in a half doesn't seem realistic but I hope you prove me wrong.
