#42I agree, except the really bad call in the Eagles game was the roughing call on Collie, that wasn't even close to roughing. And should have been a catch, a fumble a recovery by the Eagles and most likely returned for a TD. But nope! 15 yards for Indy. So ridiculous. The penalty on Manning is just a terrible rule, still a flag should not have been thrown. Its been like this all year, and gets worse every year. Its becoming unwatchable.Comment -

#44This guy is so stupid.
He wants to see that old football from the 1950's. He says today's game is scripted. But we all know that the gameplan from the 1950's won't win a fukking game. But he would rather see them play the kind of game that isn't the most competitive because it's better entertainment to him. Now how stupid does that sound???
What a fukking hypocrite. But he's too old and senile to even recognize that.
Go back to your bingo game, old man.
.....my guess is that MR. JONES has forgotten more about football then you have ever...... or will ever learn.Comment -

#45Its all predetermined. You think Billion dollar companies would invest in advertising for superbowls and games with out knowing ahead of time who will be in the superbowl. Theres billions of dollars at stake for these companies that make our average bets look like the change in street bums coin cup. Companies wouldn't risk gambling on uncertainty with millions when they could simply control outcomes and pre-plan for the next miller lite commercial with quick clips of the superbowl contenders back in September. Last nights game reminded me a lot of the Indy/Houston game last Monday night. Hmmm two forced fumbles now with seconds left on the goal line that crushed the pubs on MNF. Seems suspect to me.Comment -

#46I completely agree. I mean it was so obvious when the patriots won those super bowls on a last second field goal. The ball obviously had a gps system in it and was remote controlled to go through the uprights by the higher ups in the NFL and Vegas.
How can you be so retarded. If games were fixed than you wouldn't see primetime games be blowouts like the cowboys the other night because blowouts kill ratings and ratings are where all the money is. You would also hear at least 1 former player, coach, administrator, come out about their story. Just because you lose your money doesn't mean it was because the game was fixed, it's because you are gambling and you are going to lose when you think you are going to win.Comment -

#49Woooo there beach just sayin things often seem very suspect. Also how would the cowboys "america's team blah blah blah" being blown out kill ratings. Everyone was sayin the cowboys have to win this game so everyone was on them. Also why would a player or coach come out if they were involved. Look what happened to Pete Rose for christs sake. The ************ was publicly crucified.Comment -

#50But the OP wasn't focused entirely on game fixing. He's just saying that football today isn't as good as it used to be, that it's geared too much toward being entertainment. And even though it's a more sophisticated and successful style of play that would crush any of those old teams he's still dreaming about, he'd rather see that old game FOR ENTERTAINMENT VALUE.
These people that complain about the NFL not being good anymore don't know what they want. Do they want rule changes? Because what they want is the teams to play in a way that won't win as many games. It's a passing league. Get with the times.
Or don't and just watch your old black and white game films.Comment -

Because it doesn't matter who's in the Superbowl, it's going to have insane ratings.
You conspiracy theorists are dreaming. Yeah, it's a conspiracy involving thousands of people. Best kept secret of all time. These guys go to their grave, without ever giving up the secret. You people are retarded if you believe this.Comment -

#52How does a blowout in primetime kill ratings? Well many people have not only jobs but families, therefore they get up on Monday morning. Now do you think the ratings for the second half of the game are going to be higher if a team has a 3 TD lead at the half or if the game goes down to the wire. Obviously closer games get much higher ratings, and when you have a blowout in primetime it kills the ratings because people turn the channel to Dexter or eastbound and down and go to bed.Comment -

#54Betting on the games keeps the ratings high. All the way to the end. They don't need to fix the games to make it that way. You've got winners, spreads, over-unders, team totals always being bet on. The ratings stay high for that reason.
You don't need to fix the games to make this happen.
And before, somebody made the comment "leagues cant make money if the games arent on tv; cant get on tv unless you pay the right fees to the right people."
Yeah that's why we see European alpine skiing tournaments on abc or nbc. Because they are paying off people HUGE to get that shhit on tv.Last edited by BlindWeasel; 11-09-10, 02:28 PM.Comment -

#55If the nfl was here for strictly entertainment value, then they would not be implementing rules to stop big hits. If it was an entertainment league, then it would be played like the xfl, thus we learned that an entertainment league doesn't work.Comment
