Anyone betting the HBO or Showtime boxing matches tonight?
Always nice to cap off a big horse racing day with some boxing at night.

there are still good boxing matches out there, but don't think anyone besides Mayweather or Pacquiao can sell PPVs

To make the statement that boxing is dead and MMA killed it is ridiculous. Boxing in America certainly isn't what it once was - but neither is baseball (where have you gone Joe Dimaggio and Say Hey Willie?).
In countries such as Germany, Japan, Russia, the UK, Thailand and the Philippines, boxing is alive and well and much more popular than MMA. The live gate for world championship boxing (in Las Vegas) is on average approximately 20-30% higher than that of MMA. Also, the gross sales of boxing tend to be quite a bit higher than MMA as well.
There are plenty of great fights and fighters out there and to say that Pacquiao and Mayweather are the only ones who sell PPV's is untrue. Hopkins, Jones, DeLaHoya, Hatton, Arturo Gatti, Calzaghe, Lewis, Tyson and many more have had big PPV numbers in the recent past-currently there are some excellent fighters out there; guys like Lopez, Marquez (both Marquez brothers), David Haye (jury is still out), Cotto, and the Klitty bros. have all sold fairly well. The popularity of the boxing (as with any sport) has its peaks and valleys and while MMA has taken part of the market share, it's hardly killed the sport.
Eventually a guy will come along who will capture the spirit of the public and force boxing back up the hill.
Again, boxing in the US is much less popular than it was in the past, however, worldwide, boxing is still huge and much more so than MMA. Not to say that this may not change. But there are plenty of fans for both sports. I happen to like them both but work in boxing-my knowledge of boxing goes back thirty plus years whereas the UFC, Pride, Dream, KOTC and Strikeforce are relatively new. I did used to watch Valetudo and No Holds Barred fighting and trained in Shoot Boxing as well but compared to boxing, I like many people, are relative infants. As I'm writing this I'm watching a Wanderlei Silva documentary (he's fought Yoshida and Rampage so far) but tomorrow morning I'll watch the Lopez and Judah fights.
I've got to go with Lopez in a parlay (small-medium) and also taking the under. I'm going with the Argentinian in the Judah fight as well as the over. This month I'm 35-9 (79%) and up about $3k - so it's been a good month.

I envy you - it's a bit far for me! I'll be in Nicaragua in a couple weeks and there's a fight there while I'm there, I believe Juan Palacios is supposed to fight, not sure if that's still happening but regardless, I'll be there.

It would be nice if SBR would have the line in the point book. You can see the names but there is not a line. Please fix this.

Look at the ages of MMA fans and the ages of boxing fans. In twenty years no great athlete will enter into boxing.

boxing will be fine in the future. top fighters like floyd and pacman make more in a year than 98% mma guys make in their whole career. even marginal boxers who get a few big fights during their career make more than an mma fighter.

The Marquez/ Lopez fight last night was fantastic. If you haven't seen it, try to catch a replay. JuanMa is imo proving himself to be one of the best boxers to watch in the sport.
Hopefully, JuanMa will get into the ring with Yuriorkis Gamboa next. That fight would be huge, and imo JuanMa will be favored.

hit a 50 dollar play on the OVER 8 1/2 rounds. Figured neither could knock the other out. Was right.
