What made the whites break so many treaties with Native Americans? It is a very disturbing situation in U.S. history. How can our allies and potential allies really have any semblance of trust in us as a nation when we have such a long and strong history of double dealing and back stabbing. As a person with enough Native American heritage that occasionally people will stop me and ask me "What are you?" I am interested in resolving this dissonance in my mind.

Anyway, why is it that there was a time in this country when 10% of the qualifying males (white, Protestant) were in the KKK, and some were even prominent citizens?

This was in the early part of the twentieth century, peaking around the time of Prohibition.

For example, the MAYOR of my city was openly in the KKK back in the 1920s. How the hell is that for any type of a chance at equality?

And it just so happens that those stats match up almost identically with the % those groups make-up in total population.

In fact, AAs are about 4 points over their % make-up.
