The biggest concern was getting the house. The House controls the purse strings so that's the important one to defund this healthcare bill. Plus Manchin is only a 2 year term and is projected to vote with Republicans since he only won based on going opposite of Obama. If he chooses to go along with the Dems, he'll lose his seat in 2012 since the South is about to be ruled by the Republicans.

Basically the voters are having buyers remorse when it comes to Obama.

I am comfortable with the way Lieberman votes and that is the man who gives the Democrats "Control"

How are republicans gonna fix anything when they're the ones who got us in this mess? The people who voted for Bush twice should be ashamed of themselves and have there right to vote taken away.

I'm sorry I even got involved in a poly discussion here. I mean, this is a sports forum where the majority can't pick their nose and now I'm supposed to believe they know anything about politics?

It was 59 / 41 going into tonight and you are all celebrating a projected split with 2 independents giving the edge

I'll take an step further and say anyone who voted for Bush twice should be interned in concentration camps and reconditioned.

If the same was to be said about Obama you would call us racist. But i guess it's okay cause Bush is white. Make up your minds you crap throwing a holes!

Because it was 50/50 odds coming into today. We are gamblers. It's all about beating the spread. Dems won ATS today.

I think the Democrats might win again in 2012 because of all of the young vote will be voting for President. I might be wrong but the young vote didn't go out and vote this time around.

Toomey wins PA. I used to be a fan of Arlen Specter as he was a moderate Republican. He switches to Democrat after Obama wins in order to try to hold his seat. He loses Dem primary to Sestak then Setak loses to the Republican. I think Specter would like to make that decision over.

He was pretty much whatever he needed to be to try and get re-elected.

Some people are so ignorant of facts that they don't look for cause and effect of problems...just the face of who is around at the time of the crime. Dems took control of Congress in 2006 and urged lenders to give anyone and everyone a loan to help them achieve the American dream...creating the atmosphere to offer the 'liar loans' since the banks had no reason to doubt that the govt wouldn't keep their word and back the debt. Millions of people hopped into $250k mortgages while working for $9/hr and celebrated. Derivatives traders then engineered the CDO tranche structure and had a hay day selling them. Bank balance sheets were then loaded with liabilities and crushed profits when miraculously people couldn't afford the mortgages and defaults started rolling in....credit card debt as well....this all led to the domino effect in the economy that just snowballed....then came $5 trillion in govt debt added...and the Fed starts to look at monetizing our debt....printing more money to kick start inflation...we are selling China bonds that they are flipping for a profit...and the list goes on and on.....so to say that "Republicans got us into this mess" is simply devoid of fact. How about looking at Barney Frank's speech where he said "housing bubble...what housing bubble" and just give give give to those who have bad credit..we'll cover the loan.
Fast forward to today where we have these SAME politicians and pundits demonizing 'evil businesses and rich people' for keeping cash on hand and telling them it is their duty to spend it all to help others. Groundhog day! Soooo....they spend it and go into debt again or save it...and figure out next year's tax brackets and proceed responsibly from there....keeping a reserve on hand in case of another downturn
