I'm from NYC. Madison Square Garden where the Knicks play is in midtown 33rd street or so and that is pretty much the best part area of manhattan midtown where we see people go shopping, eating entertainment along with Times Square etc. Its pretty much the center of the NYC.
But has anyone here been to yankee stadium before? I been there one time 5 years ago or so and the area the stadium is surrounded by is real shady. Its the south bronx and its not a good area. However, when there are yankee games, they are tons of people on the train to and from the game. They had a new stadium last year but they basically just moved across the block. They tried to get a stadium in manhattan but of course that could not happen, same with the Jets in manhattan a few years ago. I heard that on yankee games, yankee stadium is pretty much one of the safest places one can be. I recalled going to the game and wow there were tons of NYPD officers around the area and tons of people. I been there a few times where it wasn't the baseball season and it looked pretty bad and very little people and i know that area is not good. The Mets are difference because Citifield is in queens and the area is real safe from the many times i go there.
Of course many people go and watch the yankees and since this happens, there is lesser chance of crime because of the amount of people around there. But it doesn't really feel right to me. I mean you have a prestigious yankees team and yankee stadium and the stadium is located in the south bronx. Does anyone know what big name stadiums are located in bad areas? I heard Soldier Field was in the south side of chicago and many of us know that is not a good area. I know the Chicago White Sox U.S. Cellular Field is located in the south side as well but does that deter people from going to white sox games? Is the area around there generally safe or is it only safe during baseball games? I know Chicago Cubs Wrigley Field is pretty safe because its in the north side.
But what about Dodger stadium or the oakland coliseum? The same with Staples Center. I recalled there was that riot when the Lakers won the title back in 2009 and there were huge riots with people burning cars and other things. What about in Detroit with the Pistons and the Red Wings? The St. Louis Cardinals and Rams stadium? Those are the only locations i can think about that i might consider those locations for the stadium to might be bad. I heard Jacksonville has lot of crime but is there near the vincinity of the Jaguars stadium area. I also heard USC Trojan stadium was located in the hood. Is this true?
