Against. Let capitalism rule. Laissez faire and all the like. Survival of the fittest. Socialism has no place in sports.

I hate to see anyones salary being capped. I do see the advantages in professional sports, so I guess that I'm for it as long as the cap is considered fair by the players union.

I'm for it. We'd see salaries even more outta control. It makes it more interesting. More teams have a real shot. Unless you're a Yankees fan, it makes more sense.

i cant imagine what the redskins payroll would be without a cap. im for it so long as you have extra cap space to sign your own players.

oh yea.....it might also level the playing field...im sick of the yankees making the playoffs every single season since 1995!
sick of it!
Why would the ticket price come down? The clubs will choose the price(s) that optimize their profits. Just because their costs decreases doesnt mean that the clubs will lower prices. They will just make more profits.

One might argue the opposite is true as well. Have you written your congressman/senator to have the anti-trust exemption in MLB removed?
Costas made the suggestion in A Fan's Case for Baseball for a hard bottom and a softer top, and it would be a great idea as far as I'm concerned if you could ever get the union to agree to it. However, I have that in my current Fat Chance File

I agree with Pareto. I don't see that ticket prices would necessarily decrease with the implementation of a cap. We must not forget that the owner is in business to drive sales of their product, and increase shareholder value. Owners will always charge what the market will bear. Players should have the opportunity to do the same.
