You got good meds. The odds are you have an atypical bacterial infection. The macrolides (class of antibiotics) are the drug of choice for community acquired atypical pneumonia. Azithromycin (ZPak) is the most frequently prescribed macrolide.

You should get better. If you don't go back to your doc, get a CBC and a CXR...

Yup, I had it in High School. Also had double Pneumonia as a baby - was on an ice bed and could have died.

thats a z pak of antibiotics. works every time. but no good to take more than once or twice a year because your body will become immune to it.

Absolutely no issues at all Golfer. I am for certain that the meds were for 5 days each time I had them. You basically have a nasty bronchial infection. You'll bounce back, but you really need to take it easy.

CBC = Complete Blood Count tells you what your White Blood Count is (along with other information like hemoglobin and platelets). A low WBC is indicative of a viral infection which antibiotics don't treat. An elevated WBC is indicative of a bacterial infection which antibiotics do treat.

CXR = Chest X-Ray. Sometimes you cant hear pneumonia with your stethoscope. You can only see on a CXR.
