That's about a bonehead move. Looks better for the Royals in the division now!

They will get a ton of innings out of him and he will finish the year 12-11. And he will pick up a few hits in Inter League games.

I love the guy, hope he does well, was hoping the Astros might sign him even though he had that 'Class B Free Agent' chain-&-ball attached to him. He'll win 12-16 games, toil 205 innings or more, record about a 4.40 ERA and drive his Minnesota teammates dizzy in the dugout talking about what a good hitter he is. And at $5 million, one-year deal, easy guy to deal in July if the Twins are out of the playoff hunt and get a younger piece back for him. That younger piece would fill in for the 2nd-round pick I think they'll give up.

Livan Hernandez can turn it on and off like a switch at anytime. So as sick as it might sound, I think this was a very good 5 million dollar gamble on the Twins part.

Agree on the call .... where is his bro El Duque Hernandez playing nowadays? Sorry ... just not to interested about Baseball. Only reason I did the comment on this thread was that I had the pleasure to meet El Duque and Livan at my parents house in CR ... great ppl !!

Also waiting for the season to start and get some knowledge .. then I will see the interest in the game.

Great value move by Minnesota. Once again they'll be competitive while spending a fraction of the big boys.

if he has an era of 4.40 or less i'll come to the sbr bash in my grandma's panties and rub peanut butter on my nipples from 11am-midnight each day of the event.

well, in the nl, vs the worst lineups in baseball, he posted a sild era of 4.90, a whip of 1.60, and allowed 157 more hits than he was able to record Ks. The year prior his numbers weren't much better. I dont know where you gentlemen come up with these projections, but i strongly disagree. then again, thats why they play the game.

Livan will not make it in the AL. Obvious that Terry Ryan is gone from the Twins.

Livan is a decent NL pitcher because he has a good bat, was at a Cardinals game last year when he took one deep. Obviously his bat won't be used in the AL.

Well then, allow me to be the first to go on record as saying that I hope I am way wrong about Livan's ERA.

Livan sucked in NL - now he's going to the 'hard hitting' AL Central. Detroit is going to destroy him, Cleveland is going to destroy him, maybe he stands tall against Chicago (lol). The Twins owner is a billionaire cheapskate who's more focused on building a new stadium than building a competitive team that's going to fill seats.

Livan Hernandez was pounded for six runs and nine hits in four innings by Blue Jays backups and minor leaguers in a loss Sunday.
The Jays completely ignored MLB's supposed rule about bringing four regulars to every spring training game. Reed Johnson was the only player on the trip likely to play for the team more than once per week, and he's not going to see much more action than that. Hernandez, of course, was lit up anyway. The Twins' probable Opening Day starter has a 9.69 ERA this spring. His $5 million contract signed last month was fully guaranteed, so there's no chance that the Twins will cut their losses and go with both Kevin Slowey and Philip Humber in their rotation.
