    Lets talk tequila
This ditzy broad messican bartender tried telling the guy beside me about tequilas the other day... She pulled one down and pointed to where it says "100% Agave" and then she pulled another that said "100% Pure". She said she only drinks the one that says "Pure" because she doesn't know what all makes up "Agave". True story. Goddamn I hate people sometimes.

Is there even a difference between 100% pure and 100% agave. I thought it was normally 100 % pure agave.

I'll drink any tequilla, I've had cheap jose silver shots, and I've had some pretty good stuff. Nothing to expensive. Most expensive bottle I have bought was big bottle of Cazadores.

ngates, all tequilas are 100% blue agave. Common agave is used to distill Mescal, which can burn a bleach-hole straight through the average fair-skin. High-end Mescals from the Del Maguey single-village distilleries are superb but they're $70+ a bottle and if you're gonna spend that much most people would rather buy a good bottle of whisky.

That said, bottles of tequila can give themselves away as Gringo Sauce. If you see the words "Made in Mexico" instead of "Hecho en Mexico", you can do better. Like the extremely tasty bottle of Correlejo Reposado (pictured above) can be picked up for like $33.

Not all tequilas are 100% agave, but all agave is blue agave. Cuervo, for example, is only half agave and then cut with cheaper sugar. That sugar is why it gives infamous hangovers. It probably doesn't matter too much though since most amateur drinkers will mix a bunch of sugar into whatever type of tequila they're drinking anyway in the form of margaritas.

Somehow a bunch of people became convinced that a bottle has to say "blue agave" on the label in order for it to be the real stuff. It doesn't.

Where you pick up that stuff? Big liquor stores carry it? or is it only found south of the border

For 33 bucks I'd buy some...I personally cant justify spending 50 on a bottle of patron, when I can buy 3 cases of beer that will last longer than 1 night.

If you're used to mainstream silvers like Don Julio and Patron, taking a sip of Correlejo Reposado will open up new doors for you. Its just so different.

Gates, you should be able to pick up a bottle at your local liquor store. But if they do not have a bottle on the shelves you could always ask them to special order it for you; if their distributor carries it it shouldn't be a problem. Happy sipping...
