    Baseball Pitches
What is the difference between a screw ball and a fork ball? When I was in HS my coach said you need to learn the fork ball first because the screw ball has very complex mechanics but my uncle told me to look at the pros and learn.

The forkball is gripped in between the index and middle fingers. The fingers are spread out very wide as the ball fits in between these two fingers. It helps if you have long fingers and is a difficult pitch to learn if you are young and still growing. -cut and pasted from some site.

The screwball is the opposite of a curveball. Your palm would be facing away from you when you release it. When you throw a curveball, your palm is turned towards you. Horrible pitch for the elbow. No one throws it anymore. Why bother when you can just learn a change-up with some movement.

For some reason most of the guys that throw screwballs are left handers. It's just easier for them to throw it,and it gives left handed batters hell, coming from a left hander.
As far as a forkball it's basicly what they call a split-finger except with different variations. The bottom is suppose to fall out aqs it approaches the plate.Bruce Sutter was one of the first guys to throw a forkball. He threw himelf right into the hall of fame with it.
