I never herd him talk before but in the post game interview he was studdering and having a hard time getting out his sentences. He even refered to San Francisco's shortstop as "what his face". Don't these guys have to go through a lengthy interview process for these jobs? He must be one hell of a tactician because no way he got this job on his speaking abilities.

#5Manuel is one of the best in the business. Not sure why you would make fun of him. Have you read his life story? It's pretty inspiring.
The guy was a 4 sport superstar in HS and probably would have been in the NBA but his preacher father committed suicide while ill. His suicide note asked for Charlie to take care of his mother and family of 11 kids. So he took a baseball contract and immediate money instead of his dream to play basketball.
He played in the major leagues for several years but then went to Japan and set numerous records over there for more than a decade. He was going to smash the HR record at the time (which Japanese people didn't want an American to do) so a pitcher beaned him in the jaw that broke it in 6 places. There were no bone left in his jaw so they had to insert metal plates in his head and removed facial nerves. He came back in the same season against the advice of doctors and he won the HR title and led his team to the pennant. He was the MVP of the league that year, a first for an American. The next year he dominated again but he left the team for a few days to attend his sons graduation. Japanese fans gave him a lot of flack for this and he never won any award again.
I'm a Cleveland fan and Manuel came to the club and helped the team's hitting and a division title. Great guy.
Manuel has survived a heart attack, quadruple bypass surgery and cancer to go along with no jaw. Maybe you can sound better under the same circumstances???Comment -

#12He has always been giving interviews like that. I think he just gets real nervous when talking to the media. He has a problem with public communications. He needs to take a college course in that, during the offseason.Comment -

#14He had a severe stuttering problem as a child... Considering all the above, I think he's done a great job. His players love playing for him and he fields competitive clubs. The guy has really done well for himself considering the odds IMO.Originally posted by Betting GuruHe has always been giving interviews like that. #19I guess with 11 kids, there's probably more room in the car than in the house.Originally posted by frizzelliCharlie was also born in a car the guy has had an interesting life.
His life really could be made into a movie. UNC basketball and Michigan football both wanted him but he chose baseball in order to give his mom the signing bonus.Comment -

#20i say me and you do it pal. Between your hollywood connections and my ability to look up facts on wikipedia and reguritate the facts on here as if they are my own we could be ballers. Actually you could be even ballier if thats even a word and I could become a baller.Originally posted by Mac4LyfeI guess with 11 kids, there's probably more room in the car than in the house. #22Two words as well.
Yogi Berra. Baseball is full of characters, guys who have been through a lot-------image isn't an important consideration as the other pro leagues---
My favorite Yogi-isms.
"90% of the game is half mental"
"Always go to other people's funerals, otherwise they won't go to yours"
"When you come to a fork in the road, take it"
"It's déjà vu all over again"
