only player worth a damn on that soft ass defense is #5 Teo the rest of them black or white are average at best dont care what the recruiting rankings say. There are guys with speed in the hood and suburbs with 3.5-4.0 gpa the irish just arent finding them. ND has a bunch of guys who look good in the uniform but cant play. Who was recruiting for Weis? The point is that the "Win one for the Gipper"/Golden Dome Kool-Aid is getting old. When was the last time Notre Dame had that kind of clout ("The Corleone Family don't even have that kind of muscle anymore"--Moe Greene)?

There are TOO MANY OTHER PLACES TO GO for people of that talent level.

ND used to get the tough kids from the streets. Chris Zorich was a kid from Chicago, Jerome Bettis from Detroit and so forth. All those guys were under Holtz. I think sweet Lou knows the secret.

I'm a Bama guy so yes I get the whole tradition thing....but even tradition wears off if you don't win anything for a decade with no hopes improvement.
